I am receiving an error: "Error connecting to server !" when trying to unlock my device

When first attempting to unlock my device I was recieving an error: "DC-Unlocker detected monitoring software", after a bit of Googling apparently this was due to winpcap being installed. What kind of BS copy protection is this? You require me to uninstall software and still block my access because of a legitimate piece of software on my PC (sysadmin here).
I have since temporarily uninstalled winpcap, changed my ip address but am getting "access denied !"
