newbie unlock question

I am a newbie with an Orange UK Huawei E1752 usb modem. I have paid to unlock the modem and according to the software it is now unlocked.
But I do not understand what I do now.
I want to use the modem with a 3 UK data card. Do I need new firmware for the stick as when I try using the Orange Everywhere software it tells me I have an invalid SIM card and will not work.

With unlocked modem you need to use not customized software and enter your new provider conenction settings (APN, username and others).
