  • Huawei E180

    Hi,

I have a problem with an E180 modem dongle which I was hoping somebody could help me with. It is identified as unlocked and voice enable using the DC-unlocker tool.

    manufacturer - Huawei modems
    model - Huawei E180/E180G

    Selected Applications port COM11
    Selected Diagnostics portCOM13

    Found modem : E180
    Model : Huawei E180/E180G
    IMEI : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Serial NR. : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Firmware : 11.126.10.01.68
    Compile date / time : Apr 17 2010 09:42:10
    Hardware ver. : CD66TCPU
    Dashboard version : UTPS11.030.01.07.03_MAC11.202.06.00.03
    Chipset : Qualcomm MSM6290
    Voice feature : enabled
    SIM Lock status : unlocked
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)

If I use the following at command I get a result which would suggest that voice is not enabled.

    at^cvoice?
    ^CVOICE:1
    OK

but I can make voice calls from my laptop from a non 3 network SIM (was originally locked to 3).

I was hoping to use the modem with asterisk as a GMS gateway but it won't work as asterisk checks to see if it is voice enabled.

    Any help would be appreciated.

To get a correct lock status on detection there must be invalid sim inside the modem (sim card from other operator than the one it was locked to).

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did the test with a GiffGaff sim and the dongle was originally lock to 3 and I have successfully made a voice call using the PC with the GiffGaff sim.

A friend lent me a E160 dongle which was originally locked to Vodafone and I tried it with the Giffgaff sim. Again I was able to make a voice call on the PC but it also showed the same response to the AT^CVOICE command and returned ^CVOICE:1
      OK

Apologies, we can assist only on problems related to device detection/unlock and configuration for unlock, we do not change or affect specifications of the device itself.
