  • Huawei E5830 Card not detected

    Hi,

I have spent around 5 hours trying to unlock my Huawei Mifi router from the 3 UK network. I have tried 2 different computers but the card is never detected so I can't even get to the 'unlock' stage. Can I have a refund of my 15 credits please as the DC Unlocker software clearly doesn't work for this model and with the amount of time I've spent trying to unlock this, I could have taken it somewhere else. I'm thoroughly annoyed !

    Thanks.

    Big Apology

Well I need to eat my words so please accept my apology DC Unlocker. After I'd read one of the forum posts I found a solution to the problem and now my E5830 is working with a Vodafone sim card. Thanks very much.

Initial detection problems solved, but still no Vodafone connection

Mancunian, I originally had problems getting dc-unlocker to detect my E5830. I disabled the WiFi on my Windows 7 laptop and then I did manage to get it unlocked successfully.

Unfortunately I still can't get it to work with my Vodafone contract SIM. I get a good reception (green) and I can connect to the WiFi, but when I tell it to connect to the Internet, the Mode button just flashes green three times (unable to connect) and goes black.

How did you get it working with Vodafone?

Tested with Orange and Vodafone, unlocked, good signal but no connection

Following what little documentation I could find on this forum, I've unlocked my E5830 although I'm not sure it was successful.

        -----

        Unlocking, please wait ...

Preparing Boot Download mode ... OK
        Reading Unlock code ... OK

Now press "SHIFT" key and hold while modem restarts!

        Restarting modem ... OK
        Card successfully unlocked !

        -----

I've now tested with both Orange and Vodafone SIMs and neither is about to make a connection, in spite of having a full green signal.

When I plug the device in via USB I do get a proper recognition from Win 7 for "3G USB Fake (COM10)". When I run DC Unlocker again it says the device is unlocked:

        DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.0416

        Detecting card :

        selection :
        manufacturer - Huawei datacards
        model - Auto detect

        Found modem : E5830
        Model : Huawei E5830/E583x
        IMEI : 354103030543601
        Firmware : 666.11.81.07.106
        Dashboard version : UTPS11.302.04.08.156
        Serial NR. : Y84CAC19B0505833
        SIM Lock status : unlocked

        ================

Really in need of some support here.

Yes, modem is unlocked. You need to enter your new provider connection settings to connection software or web panel. Then will be able to connect.

HSPA Connection manager finds SmarTone Vodafone settings

Thanks Vincentas, I have already downloaded and installed the HSPA Connection Manager. When I run it, it shows a profile already setup. The values all seems sensible, yet it doesn't connect. I even looked up the APN settings from Vodafone and tried them they didn't make any difference.

Still no joy, but thanks for helping me.

For settings you can check here too: http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?T...earchTerms=apn
Check, if settings you entered are correct. Make the new profile default.
Check, if sim that you use is working.

Settings confirmed and still no connection, SIM corrupted?

                Hi Vincentas,

I followed the instructions and downloaded Mobile Partner. I've setup a profile using the settings from the page you mentioned.

                Profile name: voda2
                Set as default

                APN
                Static: internet

                Authentication
                Access number: *99#
                User name: web
                Password: webs

I still can't get a connection. To be more precise, Mobile partner connects and shows the Vodafone signal reception. It even show upload and download bandwidth (of the order of 1-5 Kb/s) but it won't actually send any packets. Pinging an IP address can "Destination net unreachable."

What's more, now when I put the Vodafone SIM back in its original dongle (Huawei K3520) it fails to connect from Windows 7 and says "No dial tone". Is it possible that Mobile Partner has wiped my SIM? Help !!!

SIM fine, but still no connection

Well thankfully I think the SIM is fine. Forgive my naivety, but I was slightly panicked there. I've set it up on another computer and it can still connect using the old dongle! Phew!

Still haven't made it connect with the new dongle. I'm going to try changing the access number to *99# to *99***1# as that's what the Vodafone connection software tells Windows 7 it should be for the old dongle. Still appreciate any guidance??!

If modem accept other sim, then it is unlocked for sure. Could you try to connect using other provider sim card? And other provider settings?

Still no luck connecting and no documentation.

Vincentas, please forgive me asking but do you work for DC-unlocker?

The Huawei E5830 provides a mobile WiFi network. I've followed the scant documentation I found in the forum, but I'm still not able to use it with my Vodafone SIM card. Your software says the device is unlocked, but I can't access the Web Interface (192.168.1.1) to change the APN settings on the device. That means when it's disconnected from my PC, it's still using the old 3 settings.

If dc-unlocker was freeware I'd understand, but I paid 15 euros to use it. I expect professional grade software for that. Similarly if the E5830 wasn't listed as a supported device I'd understand, but it is. I'd really like a refund. If I'm talking to the wrong person please tell me and I'll email instead.

From your old post, I read that you have an E5830 brand 3UK.
It is on market without web-interface feature activated.
To activate the web-interface for E5830 3UK, need to change firmware version.
You have firmware 666.11.81.07.106 and if you change it with 666.11.00.20.112.sp05 you have fully web-interface with wifi access from http://192.168.1.1 address.
So, you don't need to install any "3 WiFi Manager" or "Mobile Partner" into PC.
Just put into SIM card, turn on MiFi, wait for WiFi is on, and than goto settings into management via 162.168.1.1 web-browser address.
Create connection with right APN of your network operator, and save/apply it.
Please safe upgrade firmware on your E5830 under XP machine.

Sorry, refund is not possible, because service was used and credits were spent.

You must change APN setting in 3Wifi manager to your provider to use it.

Upgrade firmaware to access mifi from network: http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showt...p?p=1058534564
