  • Huawei E5372s updated firmware - Now locked

I have a E5372s wireless modem that I purchased (new) 6 months ago in Indonesia. It is the Bolt 4g model. It came unlocked and I have been using it in Australia for 5 months without a problem.
Yesterday it showed an update available on the LCD screen, so I pressed the power button (as instructed) and the modem started downloading the update. After the update installed the Modem is now showing "Device Locked" on the LCD screen. I tried another SIM card, but this ddn't change the status.
So I proceeded to the DC-Unlocker website (thinking that the modem had installed new software and was now locked to the Bolt network in Indonesia, and so needed unlocking?). I installed DC-Unlocker program and purchased 7 credits (what was suggested on the purchase page). Then ran the DC-Unlocker with the Modem plugged into my WIN7 Laptop via a USB lead that came with the Modem.
DC-Unlocker says cannot detect modem, run as Administrator, so I closed the DC-Unlocker and opened again via right click "run-as-administrator", but still the Modem is not detected?
Where do I go from here?

If you can not detect modem, check this:
Make sure all drivers are installed.
Make sure modems connection software is installed, but not running. (if there is one)
Use Autodetect on DC-unlocker “select model” line.
Make sure modem is not connected to internet.
Make sure no other same manufacturer device is connected to PC

Maybe you know to what firmware version your device was updated to?

Thnaks for your reply, but I am not clear with your questions:
      1) How do I make sure all drivers are installed? 2) How do I make sure modem connection software is installed, but not running? 3) The modem won't connect to the internet... that is why I am asking how to fix it! 4) But I am now using an ICLICK dongle to connect to the internet... is that a same manufacturer device?

Go to device manager and check if your E5372 is visible under one or several of these lines: modems/ports/network adapters/cdrom/drives. Well if you had launched any setup from device's drive then it is most likely installed. Make sure USB cable that you connect device with is in good shape and not damaged.

I haven't tried to launch any set up from the devices drive? All I have done is connect as I always have done, but now the Bolt screen shows "This device is network locked, please insert correct USIM"
In Control Panel-Device Manager, the only two items visible when the E5372 is plugged in via the USB lead is under: Disc Drives = "Huawei TF Card Storage Device" and under: DVD/CD-ROM Drives = "Huawei mass Storage USB Device" Nothing under: Modems, Ports or Network Adaptors ?
I have read the instructions from a previous post on this forum: to download Huawei_E5372_Firmware_21.270.11.00.1151_Bolt_Indon esia.dgtk (which I have done), but then I don't understand what to do with this? It says to "Flash" the modem, but no instructions found on how to "Flash" ??

Means you haven't installed it yet on pc therefore it is not detectable, please check your computer area, and open drive of your device to launch setup of installation. First make sure device is detectable otherwise flashing or something else won't help.

These are the steps to unlock it:
Download lower bolt firmware from here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/file-lis...platform/E5372 (second file from bottom). Then flash device using this software: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=24196 after downgrade is complete, use standard bolt unlocker tool to unlock - https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei-e...t-unlock-guide

Ok, thanks Valdemaras, great I have now set up the installation. Now DC-Unlocker is recognising the Modem, but is reporting the following:

              Model - Huawei E5372 / MegaFon MR100-3
              Interface : 192.168.1.1
              Found modem : E5372
              Model : Huawei E5372 / MegaFon MR100-3
              IMEI : 863959020155605
              Serial NR. : P4UFGA9441705129
              Firmware : 21.270.11.04.1151
              Hardware ver. : CL1E5372SM06
              Web UI version : 15.100.10.04.1151
SIM Lock status : Locked (Card lock)
Wrong codes entered : 10 (unlock attempts left : 0)

Device is supported for unlock only with special software. Download it from DC-unlocker support area (https://www.dc-unlocker.com/file-lis...cker_softwares).

I went to the suggested link and downloaded Huawei _E5372Bolt_Unlocker_v4.exe but when I load this I get the following error report: This file is only for E5372 devices with 21.270.11.00.1151 version (my modem now has version 21.270.11.04.1151 installed.
Any advice where to go from here?

I just re-read your prior post Valdemaras, then realised HOW to "Flash" using the downloaded sofware. It was successful, thank you very much for your help. My tip to anyone with this modem is NOT to press the Power button when the LCD shows an update available. It has caused me no-end of headaches to try to fix today. As soon as I unlocked it, again it wanted me to instal an update again. This time I pressed the MENU button to cancel the update :-)
