  • E160 Claims voice activated but it isnt

Hi, I have an e160 which claims to be unlocked and the voice function activated but I am not sure that it is.

I have the following from DCUnlocker

    Found modem : E160
    Model : Huawei E160/E160G/E160X
    IMEI : 353763039761404
    Serial NR. : DK4CAA19B0315139
    Firmware : 11.609.10.00.00
    Compile date / time : Aug 31 2009 11:12:34
    Hardware ver. : CD25TCPU
    Dashboard version : UTPS11.300.05.00.03_MAC11.202.08.00.03
    Chipset : Qualcomm MSM6246
    NAND Flash : SAMSUNG_K91G08
    Voice feature : enabled
    SIM Lock status : unlocked
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)

    however if I enter
    AT^CVOICE=? I get
^CVOICE1) which as I understand things means voice isnt active.

Is there a way to force the voice function to be set again?
    any assistance would be appreciated.

    thanks
    Paul

You enter incorrect AT command to check voice. Your command just checks values which is missing 0 therefore it missleads you. To check voice status would be AT^CVOICE? (note the subtle difference).

Thanks very much for the reply. running that command returns a 1. I dont suppose you would have any idea then why AT^DDSETEX doesnt work? I am trying to use the dongle with Asterisk and chan_dongle. Its is reported to by compatible provided voice is activated but I get an error with that command which makes it unusable.

      thanks

No, sorry do not have experiance with more sophisticated AT functions. Problem might be in firmware after all too. Maybe there is an update for it?

Thanks! it turned out to be firmware indeed. I managed to find something from 2012 to update to and now its working perfectly.

          thanks again

Hello, I'm facing the exact same problem: DC-unlocker software says that my E160 is voice unlocked but when I issue AT^CVOICE? I get 1 as result. On asterisk when the call is answered CLI shows AT^DDSETEX failed.

              selection :
              manufacturer - Huawei modems
              model - Huawei E160/E160G/E160X

              Selected Applications port COM6
              Selected Diagnostics port COM5

              Found modem : E160E
              Model : Huawei E160/E160G/E160X
              IMEI : XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
              Serial NR. : DYA5TA1163002990
              Firmware : 11.604.21.57.00
              Compile date / time : May 14 2009 09:38:52
              Hardware ver. : CD25TCPU
              Dashboard version : graham_inggs_custom_iso
              Chipset : Qualcomm MSM6246
              NAND Flash : samsung_K5D1G13ACH
              Voice feature : enabled
              SIM Lock status : unlocked
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)

I tryied to upgrade to firmware after this but now the device seems locked as it does not connect to asterisk anymore.

If somebody can give me a hand on this ...

              kind regards
              Gustavo
