  • Honor 8 L09C432: Bricked, DC-Phoenix Variant 1 Step 2 not working

    SOLVED (see Post #7)

Hi! This is my first post on the forum. I try to bring my Huawei Honor 8 L09C432 back to live. I was on a customer rom and wanted to go back to stock. Actually I made misstakes in the process and now the phone is in a boot loop without a working system. Bootloader is working but looked.

I followed the guides regarding DC-Phoenix and made the following steps:

    1) connect DC-Phoenix to the phone: OK
    2) flash the update.app (full version from Huawei Web-side) in fastboot mode: OK
    3) reboot into update mode: OK
    4) the phone startet imidiatly with an update. I can not start the process in update mode from within DC-Phoenix
    5) the update process on the phone starts but freezes at 5%

At the very first beginning I made more than one misstake and so I also copied a wrong UPDATE.APP to an dload folder in the system folder of the phone! Maybe this is the reasen for the imidiat start ot the update process after booting into update mode.

Do you have any recommendation how to solve the issue. DC Phonix works as it should, but I dont know how to prevent the phone from starting the update process an can not complete the unbrick process with DC-Phoenix.

    Any help is apriciated.

    Alex

If method 1 does not help consider using method 2.

Yes I try, but on the download page for the phone firmware files there is no file for the L09. I only found a file for the L04.

Can I use a file for the L04 for flashing a L09 phone?

        DC-Phoenix Unbrick Guide Variant 1 Step 1 and 2
I followed the guides regarding DC-Phoenix and made the following steps:

        1) connect DC-Phoenix to the phone: OK
        2) flash the update.app (full version from Huawei Web-side) in fastboot mode: OK
        3) reboot into update mode: OK
        4) phone shows update 5% but this means waiting for UPDATE.APP file
        5) DC-Phoenix needs more than one try to find the phone in update mode
        6) DC-Phoenix extracts the firmware file and shows "actual Version" (see screenshot) is ... B001. This gives me an error regarding the Version is not compatible with the phone.

Question: What does "actual Verision" mean? The version of the UPDATE.APP firmware file. This is definitely wrong! I'l tried with different UPDATE.APP files and get the same Version Number ...B001

It's working!!! My phone is back to live!
I used DC-Phoenix with Variant I and an older Firmware (FRD-L09C432B101) . As allways step 1 in the guide worked and step 2 didn't. I tried to update the firmware via SD-Card (dload folder) in update mode and it completet the update to 95%, gave an error but after an reboot the system is up and running!

              Yepeee!

I have no idea what was different with this firmware than with the version 131. Someone in the forum mentioned, that the firmwere file for an unbrick has to have the userdata and cache. The version I used doen't include userdate and cache. Annyway ...
