  • Honor 8 [FRD-AL10 / FRD- L19] Help! Need to fix stability issues and upgrade to Oreo.

    Hello,

    I am new here.

Pls take your time and read through my post, so that you can guide me on the right steps to take.

    My Case is Peculiar.

    Thank you.

i have Huawei Honor 8 (FRD - AL10) China variant.
with Nougat 7.0 & EMUI 5.1.THIS WAS THE BUILD & FIRMWARE STRAIGHT FROM BOX.

I got an official firmware update prompt, which I accepted and it consequently bricked my device in erecovery mode.

I took the device to a Service center where it was fixed for a token but now, while using, i discovered several limitations and instability.

I would have taken it back to service center but I have relocated and huawei service center say- they cannot help me.

    MY WORRIES and OBSERVATIONS:

1, Region rebranded- I discovered that the build number had changed to FRD-L19 (C900B131) EU Variant, as opposed to the Original Build number that come with phone- FRD-AL10- Chinese variant.

I do not mind the region change, but device is now unstable as i cannot take - videos, play videos, watch videos on youtube or video stream as it reboots device instantly.
Device reboots itself randomly something's while in use too.

2, The firmware version is now downgraded to- 6.0, EMUI 4.1 as opposed to Nougat 7 EMUI 5.1 which originally came with device.

    PLS NOTE:
    IN FASTBOOT MODE, DEVICE SHOWS-
    Phone: Unlocked
    FRP: Lock

What do i have to do for device stability & upgrade to Oreo

    This is what i want-

1, To have a stable device on FRD-L19 build or even FRD-AL10 build.

    2, Upgrade to Android 8.1 EMUI 8.1?

Pls advice patiently as I am a novice to troubleshooting Android phones.

    Thank you

Hello and thank you for detailed post. We can not help to upgrade it to Oreo, but you may try to reflash your mobile with board software or full stock rom https://www.dc-unlocker.com/DC-Phoen...epair-tutorial please, keep in mind that there is a great risk in damaging your device while trying to flash it. If you plan to flash some different full stock rom then first you need to repair model/country/vendor on HCU tool (please read the tutorial), then can flash your mobile in fastboot with your selected full stock rom matching repaired details.

Thank you ..... for the prompt response.

Basically, I just want a stable device on the International build which I can also manually update the firmware.

I have read the entire site and tutorials. It seems very user friendly, but one still has to know what he/she is doing to get results and not damage device.

From your post, I make out the following key points and need understanding to make informed decisions on solution.

      1, Reflash Device-
What is the difference between board software and full stock rom & what is the implication?

2, Repair model/country/vendor on HCU tool-
I am a bit confused here... Device was originally FRD-AL10 but it is presently FRD-L19.
My question here is- which model do I repair among them?

3, After successful repair, can I update firmware manually using the HCU tool?

Thank you once again as I await your reply

        1. board software flashes device from scratch, may lose all the data such as IMEI/SN etc. Full stock rom flashing won't cause that unless device was modified by third party tools maybe.
        2. You should repair according to data that matches the full stock rom file which you want to flash as explained earlier.
        3. HCU does not perform any kind of firmware upgrades.

          Hello Valdemaras,

I am ready to follow your guide given me in this thread.

I want to purchase the HCU times license which also gives me access to DC...

I have never done this before, so please give me a step by step procedure guide/order on how to use DC & HCU to-

1, Change the firmware back to Chinese version.

2, flash a full stock rom (Chinese)

          3, update firmware to OREO

In what order and STEPS do I achieve the above using the HCU tool.

Please don't do it. You are not capable of doing it. Not with guidance or anything. Take it to local repair store. I do not want you to waste lots of money on something that won't work for you and you blame it on us.

              Thanks for the prompt response.
I have been to repair stores and they could not fix it.
I also went to Huawei office and was told to take it to the country of warranty.

Initially, when it was in a boot loop, I had to take it with me to the UK where it was fixed.
The issue now is that- it has many bugs- such as: cannot play or take videos, downgraded firmware, reboots sometimes etc...

pls, be rest assured that I will not blame you for the outcome.

Just give me a step by step guide to follow as I use dc & hcu tools.

What to do first... when to download firmware etc
My only challenge is the procedure to follow.

I just need to know the order to follow and I can handle it.

Thank you in anticipation of receiving your guidance.
