I have a Huawei E180. It is branded and locked to TMN a Portuguese Broadband service provider. It works great with TMN but I wish to unlock it and use it with other service providers outside of Portugal.
I have installed DC-Unlocker Client setup, removed the sim card from my Huawei E180 USB modem and was able to see it was locked.
I have read through this site several times including this forum. I have questions related to this unlocking procedure and find that although some answers are found in the forum, it is a difficult process to make this an easy one.
First, are there FAQ’s and /or detailed instructions and guidelines on how to unlock and change the software on Huawei USB modems?
On the premise that the above does not exist, here are my specific questions to which I hope the moderator doesn’t give me only yes and no answers but some details with it.
Do I use the DC-Unlocker Client setup to unlock the modem after purchasing the unlock code?
I read that once the modem is unlocked, I must replace the Dashboard and Mobile Partner software with Huawei‘s generic version. Does the download setup software do this on its own and remove the existing TMN software?
Does the new software setup on the USB modem or on my computer? I ask this as I see my USB modem has a maximum capacity of 12.8 MB which is currently all used up. When I run the Mobile Partner setup on my computer it appears to be over 30MBs.
What is the “Dashboard”?
And my last question is: after I purchase the unlock credits and apply for the unlock capability, how long do I wait to receive the material?
