  • Mate 10 Pro BLA-L09 bricked USB SER

Hi, I am trying to work out whether there's any point trying to fix this.

I have an Optus AU Mate 10 Pro, BLA-L09. For the last 18 months I've had zero issues with it - unlocked bootloader, TWRP, stock firmware (8.0.0.137), Magisk. I was really very happy with it!

A magisk update killed it two days ago and in the process of trying to get it back up and running I have bricked it. It is dead, black, and registers in Windows as a device "USB SER".

Is this in the category of stuff that can be brought back from the dead or is it dead for good? It's a phone I could happily get several more years out of so if it's fixable I would like to fix it.

I don't want to bother buying credits etc if it is just going to end up in failure and a refund anyway.

    Hello
The phone can be restored, for this you need to install the testpoint usb ser driver, Huawei USB COM 1.0 will update the Board firmware, and the service version, version no lower than 148
The instructions described, you need to use the third method

Hello, thank you that's good news for me.

I have more questions though. I don't know if I understand testpoint though, do I need to physically open the phone to use testpoint? EDIT: so it looks like I have to heat up the back cover and lever it off to get to the test point, is that correct? I have a history of breaking glass stuff but I guess it's only the back cover anyway

Also, will the files I need all be easy to locate and download once I've got dc credits?

I see when I look at the supported phones list for DC-Phoenix, there is a "yes" for the first four flash types, but no "yes" for "Factory repair file available" and "Flash empty board or by testpoint". (I am looking at https://www.dc-unlocker.com/supportedmodelsdcpx.php)

Finally I be able to get myself back to a stock firmware + root?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if these are dumb questions!

Update. I have opened the back cover and (I think) located the test point. I've also found drivers so I now have my phone showing as "Huawei USB COM 1.0 (COM4)".

I want to have everything ready before the clock starts on my credits. Is there a way I can confirm the right files are available for a BLA-L09, Optus/Australia device? the last firmware on it was 8.0.0.137. C34. Looking at the list at https://www.dc-unlocker.com/firmware-catalog am i right that I would use the file BLA-Full-Repair-NV-included-Board-8.1.0_r1.dgtks for this phone?

And after that, what firmware? I can't see anything listed that is for my region (not that the region matters if I can get it working).

Also, I remember that there were problems with going to a firmware (or android version?) that was too high numbered, that I wouldn't be able to unlock the bootloader any more. I just want to make sure I pick a firmware that I can still have Magisk/root on.

I'll be really happy if I can get this back to life!!!!!!
