  • E3372h changing COM port numbers during "Detect Modem" operation

    Hello,

I'm having trouble getting the DC - Unlocker client working with my E3327h. Here are the steps performed:
    1. Plugin the E3327h device into the USB port
    2. Windows assigns COM ports like this:
      • COM4 - Application Interface
      • COM3 - PC UI Interface
    3. I open DC - Unlocker 2 client 1.00.1431
    4. Perform "Detect Modem" with Auto Detect. Output is this:
      • DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.1431

        Detecting modem :

        selection :
        manufacturer - Huawei modems
        model - Auto detect (recommended)

        Found Applications port COM3

        Found modem : E3372h
Model : Huawei AuthVer 4 modem (New)
        IMEI : 869907024476398
        Serial NR. : G4PDU16125000684
        Firmware : 21.200.07.00.141
        Compile date / time : Oct 10 2015 11:52:13
        Hardware ver. : CL2E3372HM
        Dashboard version : UTPS23.015.11.01.141_MAC23.015.11.02.141_LNX23.015 .11.01.141
SIM Lock status : Locked (Card Lock)
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)
      • At the same time Windows reacts as if the device has been unplugged from the USB port and then plugged back in. When looking at Windows device manager, now the device is assigned a single COM port. That is COM8 - PC UI Interface
    5. Now pressing "Network unlock" will result in the following output:
      • Unlocking, please wait ...

        Port unavailable

        Error code 24

        unlock failed !
    6. If I repeat the operation with the modem now on COM8 here is the output:
    DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.1431

    Detecting modem :

    selection :
    manufacturer - Huawei modems
    model - Auto detect (recommended)

    Found Applications port COM8

    Found modem : E3372h
Model : Huawei AuthVer 4 modem (New)

    Serial NR. : G4PDU16125000684
    Firmware : 21.200.07.00.141

SIM Lock status : Locked (Card Lock)
Wrong codes entered : 0 (unlock attempts left : 10)
Interesting to note that the COM ports are not changed this time.
    7. Next step is to press on "Network unlock" and now once again Windows reacts as if the device has been unplugged from the USB port and then plugged back in. Now the ports are back the way they were at step 2 above:
    1. COM4 - Application Interface
    2. COM3 - PC UI Interface
    The output is now:
    Unlocking, please wait ...

Waiting modem/phone to be ready ...
    AT command error

    Error code 37

    unlock failed !

Please let me know if I missed anything here...

Error code 37 means firmware that runs in your device is not supported for unlock.
