  • Trying to unlock Huawei E5830

    Hello
Hope you can assist me - I purchased the device from 3 store yesterday and then tried unlocking the device so I can use it abroad as well as UK based with another operators SIM.
I obtained the software - found the device could be seen by the latest version and then used an o2 sim in it to try and unlock it.

So it started to "try" and came back with an "error 21".
Obviously the 15 credits are now gone as well and the device is definately not unlocked.
I had to reset the device to factory (holding the wifi and power together) and now it works with the 3 sim card.

so really can someone provide feedback on Error 21 and also is it possible to get another go without having to buy another 15euros of credits?

    Thanks

    Roamfree.

You can unlock the same card without credits - so give it a try.

Check, if modem is detected aby autodetect. Be sure no other huawei modem is connected to computer at unlock time. Check, if no other huawei modem drivers are nstalled in computer you try to unlock. If are installed, then remove all drivers and install fresh only for the device you are unlocking. If that does not help, after error withou disconnecting modem, open device manager and update drivers from modem. Restart and try unlock again.

Give another try without getting further credits and it could unlock the same card.

          Thanks for all your replies.

When I got the error that was after it had detected it and during the unlock.

Now it may have worked! when I put an Orange or o2 sim in - it now says the sims are unlocked and assuming this is what I need to see?
I now just need to find the operator APN settings for each and create a profile in the 3G manager is this correct?

          Thank you for your help

Thank you for good news. Yes, you need to create new profile with new provider connection settings.
