e160g card/phone not found?

hi guys ,i want to unlock a USB huawei e160g modem locked to Three in Australia.
I downloaded the dc-unlocker software and run it. There is no option for huawei modem only data card or phone. Neither option will detect the modem..The modem is on and connected..What am i missing?

you should select huawei datacards and model leave autodetect. Datacard = modem. Check, if no connection software is running at detect time. It must be closed. The modem must be not connected to internet at detect and unlock time.

thanks..yeah worked it out..had to be disconnected to find modem.any way said not supported so bad luck for me..tried a 3rd party unlocker and he wanted $120 to unlock but Three only charges $99 ! geez...bastards

If you have a 3 E160G modem it should be detected by the DC-unlocker Client software(mine is) ......... dc-unlocker_client-1.00.0261.exe found in the link below

Have you removed the SIM Card from the modem prior to trying to detect it.

Make sure as Vincentas said, to turn off the 3 software after connecting the modem to the PC.

PS helmut, I'm in Oz also and 3 are a rip-off when it comes to unlocking.

guys,this stuff is all new to me so thanks,so if i remove the card then i can unlock the modem..is that right?

Hi helmut,

You won't be able to unlock the modem without a DC-unlocker Dongle, OR if you don't have a dongle you will need to purchase 15 credits and use the DC-unlocker server via the internet to unlock your modem.

The modem should be detected by the client software dc-unlocker_client-1.00.0261.exe found in the link below

Plug the modem into the PC without the SIM card, when the modems software starts let it finish and then turn the 3 software off.

Then run the dc-unlocker_client-1.00.0261.exe and use auto-detect modem.

The E160G should be detected, should get something like below example on detection
