How To Enable Network Band Selection while a Connection is ON

How to set Huawei Mobile Partner Network Band Selection as
"WCDMA Only" from "WCDMA PREFERRED"
when a connection is going on?
...
I'm using Huawei E160. At my home, I have a poorer 3G coverage, and thats why "WCDMA PREFERRED" mode works better, signal may totally go of if its "WCDMA Only".
But, if I start a connection on "WCDMA PREFERRED" mode at my home, and then move by car to my office, where 3G coverage is fair, and a "WCDMA Only" mode is more suitable.
The bug in the current versions of Huawei Mobile Partner is that, it does't allow switching between bands, once you start a connection. The buttons donot work.
So, whenever I tend to change the Reception Band, i have to close the connection. And manytimes sacrifice some non-resumeable downloads.
Is there a way I can switch from
"WCDMA Only" from "WCDMA PREFERRED" without closing the connection?
This facility was quite well available on many 3G mobile phones. This is possible on
Nokia Symbian OS9.2 and later Phones). So, I'm not just speculating, its technically not impossible.
...
I hope, some of you will come up with a solution.
It could be greatly helpful. Please reply.
Thanks
