saving orginal firmware before update ? voice fn on ec1262 ?

hey,

got 3 questions,

- is it possible to save original device firmware before updating with new one ? if so how ?

- what happens when all 10 attempts at unlocking are over ? is the device dead for good, or still recoverable somehow ?

- can someone tell if voice-function can be enabled on CDMA EV-DO Rev.A (HSD) modem like EC1262 ?

- some people claim that some huawei usb mobile devices can be unlocked for voice, sms and ussd as well. does unlocking / enabling voice actually give you the features of sms and ussd as well ? And will these be available via AT-command-set ?
