  • limited retries (10) for unlocks ?

Seen some posts where folks are stuck with a device where all 10 unlock code entry attempts have been made, and now device is kind-of turned useless. Is that really the case, or is there some way to reset the device (s.a. reburn the device firmware) ?

Also, does enabling voice/sms/ussd do anything to this counter ?

What device your are writing about? Could you copy here what is detected by dc-unlocker?

@Vincentas, this is for Huawei EC 1550, which I am planning to buy on ebay (saw some decent deals). However they all say that the device is unlocked, but I've read many posts here that say that on reaching 10 unlock attempts, the device gets permanently locks, s.t. you cannot use things like dc-unlocker tools to unlock it, even with the correct unlock code anymore. now since the seller claims this to be unlocked device, the only reason why I am asking this question is because, I would also like to enable it for voice/sms/ussd, and the seller isn't technical enough to tell me for sure if that's done.

Maybe you can write firmware version? Then would be able to check.

Okay, will try to figure out the firmware version. Not very hopeful as seller may not take enough pains (he is a wholesaler).

BTW, ability to unlock does not depend on the device HW, but on it's current firmware -- is that right ?

Yes, after we will see firmware version we will know if it can be unlocked.
