  • Help> E160 unable to turn into modem after updates

I just downloaded the latest files (firmware and dashboard) from dc-files for my e610 and they both flashed fine but now it doesn't go to modem mode anymore.

Even after installing the software several times it always still goes into cd mode.

Usually when this happen I just needed to restart with the modem still plugged in and it always turn into a modem.

Suffice to say I can't do anything like re-flashing it if it doesn't go into modem mode. I'm stuck...

Is there anything I can do about this, maybe force it to usb mode-switch, I did it once in ubuntu a long time ago but I can't find anything about it for windows.

Oh I'm using windows 7 64 bit. Before I flashed, the older versions worked fine here so it's not windows. Yes I should have left it alone if it wasn't broken. But now it is.

    Thanks for any help.

E160G modem works on one laptop but not on the other

Hi - not really much help if you only have one PC. I unlocked my Huawei E160G today on one pc (tried the other first and unlock program could not find the com port) and it works with another network sim card but it will not work on the original pc - get 'SIM card not accepted'.

On the pc where it doesn't work, the device is showing as a CD-ROM in device manager and as a modem and as a USB mass storage device when I right click to 'Safety Remove hardware'

Strange so returning to your problem you could try it in another pc - so that at least you know it is a problem with a specific pc.

I sorted my problem with other pc. The connection manager software was very old. So I went to the 3 website and downloaded the latest version of it. Now both PCs are working with the dongle. Here is the link to the sofware upgrade:

I fixed it by uninstalling (and not ticking the "Remove Drivers" check box) anything related to the modem in device manager, such as mass storage device, huawei something (i forgot exact names). Basically just uninstall anything that pops up in device manager when you plugged in the modem.

After a while it installs all the right devices automatically. I had to do this for every USB port that I have used in the past (if you keep changing USB ports for the modem).
