Followed another thread on here and installed firmware version 11.608.08.81.00.B409. Now I can't connect to the modem at all under Windows, but it still works (in GPRS mode) in my D100 router.
Is there an updated Windows driver needed to match this firmware? I tried updating the Dashboard, but the installer can't find the modem.
Ok, got it working again now. The modem had defaulted to GSM only mode and the D100 was unable to change this setting.
The Windows 'driver' issue was not a driver issue. I happened to have taken a copy of the problem machine using VMWare, so I was able to run another identical instance of the system as a virtual machine on different hardware. When I plugged the modem into this VM, it found half a dozen new devices and installed the drivers that were previously on the disk. The modem then worked fine in Mobile Partner and I was able to set the default to 'WCDMA preferred', allowing me to get an HSDPA connection under Windows and subsequently in the D100 as well.
I suspect the original laptop has a problem supplying sufficient current to the USB ports, causing the modem to fail to initialise properly.
