Huawei Vodaphone K3765 "modem not found"

    Huawei Vodaphone K3765 "modem not found"

    Hi there,

    I try to unlock a Huawei Vodaphone K3765 and receive a "modem not found" in DC-Unlocker. I tried "autodetect" and also to select it from the list, same result. No SIM inserted. What can be done?

    Could someone please point me to instructions, maybe my approach was wrong?
    I could get Unlock code and Firmware code and a message that there are 4 credits left, but what now?

    If you can not detect modem you should check the fallowing:
    Check, if the drivers are installed
    Check, if the connection software for this modem is closed and modem is not connected to internet
    Check, if you use autodetect function in dc-unlocker software
    Check, if you use latest dc-unlocker software version.

      Thanks for posting this checklist, I try to feed you with the response from my side:
      - I'm not shure if the driver is installed correctly. In Control Panel > Software, I see "Vodaphone Mobile Connect Lite" and in > Phone and Mobile Options, I see "Vodaphone Mobile Broadband Modem (Huawei)" - does that mean that the driver(s) are installed? By the way, a right-click on the item for "protocol" gives a message like "ModemLog Vodaphone...(Huawei).text cannot be located - do you want to create a new file?"
      - the Vodaphone connect software was closed, and I don't think that there was an Internet connction through the modem with no SIM card in it. Should I have put that in?
      - as posted, I tried with the auto-detect option and by selecting the model from the list, it didn't make a difference to the behaviour, onl the text in the box slightly changed, basically added the model name after selecting from list.
      - downloaded the perceived latest version fo DC-Unlocker just minutes before trying.

      Here are my additional questions:
      - Does it make a difference, if the Vodaphone software is/was already installed when trying?
      - I've read somewhere that these modems are not really locked, it's more the branded connection software that may bug me here - could you comment on that?

      Thanks a lot for looking into the issue. I have to admit that this was my first attempt in this area, so my knowledge is naturally limited. If you have further suggestions, I'm happy to try a lot.

        Do you see modem under mdoems and ports in device manager?
        Check in task manager, if vodafone software really closed and there are no processes related to it running.
        Vodafone software must be installed, but it must be closed at detect time.
        Sorry, do not know for sure that all this model modems are not locked. Need to detect by dc-unlocker and will see lock status.

          I don't seem to have a section concerning Modems in the Device Manager (Dell Laptop running Windows XP - on my office PC, I have one, but didn't try there as this PC is monitored by Security department), however I found the device in section "DVD/CD-ROM drives". It also appears as a drive in the Windows Explorer with Vodaphone logo.
          I've checked TaskManager and saw that a VMC process was running. In the Windows Services, I found a corresponding service and set the "VMC Vodaphone Mobile Connect Service" to manual and killed the process in Task Manager. Unfortunately that had no changing effect on the detecting of the modem.

          Any other suggestions to possibly detect the USB modem more than welcome.

            You should see it under modems also. Try installing other drivers.
            Also, can try to set ports manually in dc-unlocker software (not use autodetect).
            Find your modem in device manager, then go to modem properties and check what com ports it uses?
            Then go to ports section of device manager and check what com port is there?
            After it open dc-unlocker software, select your modem manufacturer and model. Com port number that you found in modems section enter as application port and port number that you found in ports section enter as diagnostic. Then try to detect. If still can not detect, try to change ports places.

              Dear Vincentas,

              I was busy for a few days with other urgent things, but am back again and there is progress eventually!
              - First I uninstalled everything I found related to the issue, also cleaned up the Registry manually. There were only few keys I was not allowed to delete (presumably some service was still active and had it's fingers on them)
              - Next I plugged the USB modem in again, and hey presto! the installation went further than ever and I found new entries in the device manager I had not seen before: 4 entries with the yellow question mark, all indicating that the driver for the modem was missing and could not be downloaded.
              - Then I got new drivers for the modem, and also an updated Vodafone Mobile Connect version from the Vodafone page.
              - So far only installed that and oh wonder! now I have a modem section in device manager and DC-Unlocker also identified the modem correctly and even told me it was unlocked already?!?
              - I also downloaded Firmware from the same source - would you recommend to install that as well?

                What sim is there inserted at detect time? Original or not? If not original (from other provider than modem), then your modem is unlocked for sure.
                Yes, with unlocked mdoem you will need other (not customized by provider) connection software and new provider connection settings.

                  At the moment, there's no SIM in it - should I put one in and read it out again in DC-Unlocker?

                    Yes, detect with other provider than modem sim card. Only then dc-unlocker will show real lock status.
