          Phone not found

Hi people. This is obviously not an uncommon problem. I can't unlock my U8180 with this software either. I put the phone into fast boot, plug in the usb, pc has installed driver. I checked in device manager and I don't see any problems there. The PC makes the sound of something being plugged in when the phone goes into fast boot. I choose Huawei as the model and also the auto detect model option. But I just keep getting "phone not found". Could it have anything to do with the fact I have a custom ROM and Clockwork recovery mod or will that have nothing to do with my problem? Here's my output from DC:

For correct Huawei phone detection, please turn ON phone, wait while fully starts, turn into USB and after windows detects device, you can press "Detect phone".

For correct Vodafone 858 SMART, Huawei U8150, U8160, U8220 and U8230 detection, please turn off phone, then press at same time buttons "Vol. -" and "End call" (red button) and then "Power".
Connect USB and after installing all necessary drivers, you can detect phone.

Are you sure you installed drivers from our procedure link?
Find where your phone appears in Device Manager, right click>Update drivers>Choose to update manually. Give the folder with drivers that you downloaded from us.

Firstly thanks for the reply. I appreciate your help on this very much. On the procedures page it says drivers for windows 7, when I go onto it, it doesn't have drivers to download, not that I can see unless I've missed something. It says to update the driver. However it is a newly installed driver that windows 7 found when I plugged the phone in, in fastboot mode. I clicked to update driver anyway, which I had already done but thought I'd try again. Windows then tells me that the driver is up to date. I tried again just to see if anything had magically changed since yesterday, which sounds silly but this sort of thing can sometimes happen with computers. Sadly not though, still getting phone not found in DC. It says starting DC client and then phone not found. Strange because it must be communicating with the phone on some level in order to indicate on the screen the fastboot version and phone model.

                Download these drivers: http://www.dc-unlocker.com/test/Puls...xp_w7_w764.zip
It says that these drivers are for XP, but you will find drivers for windows 7 also in the same file.

Follow my instructions above and install the drivers manually. Then detect phone and unlock it.

OK I have win7 64bit. So I went to where it says XP drivers and downloaded the win7 64bit driver. I extracted it. Then I went to device manager, update driver and manually browsed to the unziped location of the driver. Windows just keeps insisting that the driver I have is up to date. Do I need to force windows to overwrite the driver I have now? My current driver is under ADB Interface and it says Fastboot interface (Google USB ID). In W95/98 I would have simply deleted the driver and when it detected the phone, pointed it to the other driver. That trick doesn't seem to work in 7.

Yes, you have to give drivers for windows by force.
If windows will not accept them, uninstall current drivers and install only these that you downloaded.

After uninstalling the driver and installing the two drivers from this site, the original driver keeps being installed by windows. I can disable it but I'm getting a hazzard symbol on both of them, code 10, driver cannot be started. I have tried all sorts but don't seem to be getting anywhere.

                        Success!

First for the bad news. After trying everything I was unable to use DC Unlocker to unlock my T-Mobile Huawei 8180 in Windows 7 64bit.

The good news is I used a friends laptop, which has Windows XP on it. It was really quick and easy, no messing about, it just worked.

If anybody else is struggling, like I was, with DC Unlocker and Windows 7 64 bit, my advice is to just do it on XP even if that means using a friends computer. Spent 2 days messing with DC and in the end, on XP it was all done in under 5 minutes, including installing DC and XP drivers. Great little bit of software for XP.

Just had lots of fun with this myself. Hope this helps. When the phone hangs on the operator logo it's not hanging or frozen. It's in fast boot mode which is exactly what you want.

Now the idea is to replace the driver you mensioned with the one you have to download from the procedure page and replace the driver in device manager. If you can do that then great but I was unable to do it in windows 7, it just wasn't having it. If you plug into xp in fastboot mode then, when it asks for the driver, you simply browse to the location where you have your downloaded driver and install that.

Then when you go into the dc program it works as it should. Weather you're having a go at doing it in windows 7 (good luck) or doing it in xp (worked for me), you still need to download the driver from the procedure page and use it in place of the "Fastboot Interface (Google USB ID)".

                              Still no detection!!!
