  • Huawei E160 G unlock

Ok so I've got this dongle, its locked to 3, if I stick another sim in it, and stuf it in my laptop I just get a message telling me the sim is not allowed. The dashboard doesn't promt me to enter an unlock code, so is this an older dashboard that needs updating? Does Dc unlocker unlock the dongle and flash a generic dashboard on all for the 4 credits, and do I even need to change the dasboard? If so how do I go about it?
    Ta muchly

Hello. You do not need to update or change the dasboard. You can unlock it with DC-Unlocker.

If dashboard is branded, you may need to change it. Because it will not accept original sim.
Could you copy here what is detected by dc-unlocker when not original sim is inserted? Then would be sure if modem is locked or not.

Hi I guess the dashboard is branded as it'll only work on 3. I've looked around it and there seems to be no way to input apn inf either, so I guess this means I'll have to get Huawei Mobile Partner or something like? Where is the best place to get it from and how do I get it onto the dongle when I have it? Does it also update the firmware, or can I change the dashboard while leaving the firmware as is? It is a bit out of date as it's 11.604.06.00.156

Mobile Partner should automatically set as the default software of your modem after dashboard update. Try searching in our forum for correct dashboard. Your firmware will not updated together with dashboard update. But we do not recommend you to update firmware in case it might not be suitable to unlock with DC-Unlocker.

Hi, I unlocked the beast, and dc unlocker told me as much. As you said It still wouldnt accept another sim, cos it was still putting up the original 3 dashboard. I flashed the latest firmware to it, and got a success report which dc unlocker confirmed ok, but still the old 3 dashboard, so I flashed the latest Hauwei dasboard updater (got from "dc files", had a successful report back on that too. Now if I plug the dongle in, it loads up the latest dashboard, but I get a message back all the time saying the modem is missing or has been disconnected. Also dc unlocker will not find it, keep getting the message modem not found.Help!!!! any bright ideas please

Do you see modem in device manager ports and modems section?

Hi Vincentas, in answer to your question, if I look in the Device Manager I get 4 appearances of Hauwei Mobile, and if I go properties I get the following message The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

From that I guess there are no drivers to identify the E160G, tho when I plug it in I get the message installing drivers, and it loads up the Hauwei "Mobile Partner" dashboard. When I unlocked it, Dc unlocker said that was ok and after flashing both the firmware update and the dashboard update, the wizards said both ctions had been successfull. It was only after the dasboard update that dc unlocker couldnt see the modem. Does that throw any light on the problem?
                Thanks

So, all drivers are installed, but connection manager does not see modem?
Could you try to install modem on other computer?
Do you see any unknown devices related to modem in device manager?

Ok Tried the dongle on my wife's laptop, dashboard installed but when it opened couldnt find the dongle and got the "device missing or disconnected" and also little symbolwhich said no data connection. Going into the device manager on the machine and there's no sign of the dongle anywhere.
On my laptop, Device manager finds Huawei Mobile device under "Other Devices". Going to the properties tab gets you the message that there are no drivers installed for this device.
If I look in "My Computer" the dongle comes up as drive G, and opening it gives me the dashboard and some executables :- reset Device exe, Datacard setup exe, and Datacard x64.exe. There's also Setup and Autorun.
I've not tied any of the executables as I presume they should have run automatically when the dongle installed. Is it worth flashing an earlier firmware/dashboard, is this even possible? and is there an order to do it in, I did the firmware first then the dashboard. thanks for your help so far

                        Yet more grief!

Ok I tried all the stuff in those threads, even tried installing the drivers manually, but no joy. Since I removed the mass storage device, and let it re-install I no longer see Huawei mobile device in "Other Devices"
In an act of despair, I downloaded the latest firmware dashboard again, but now when you run the exe's it cant find the dongle at all. Does this meanthat the dongle is screwed despite the "successfull" messages after doing the upgrades I got from your site?
Where the H... do I go from here

If you still see any devices in device manager related to modem it is not totally broken.
Maybe any driver is missing. Try to remove all huawei drivers from computer first, then install drivers manually from dashboard driver folder.
Then remove (dissable or eject) cd-rom (if you see it) and wait.
After some time it should find new devices and should install drivers.
