  • Hauwei 3 e353 Modem

    Bought this recently and unlocked it using dc-locker. Modem is now able to accept my SIM card in Hong Kong. I would appreciate it if someone can help me with the following;

    Details of modem are:

    Found modem : E353
    Model : Huawei E353
    IMEI : XXX
    Serial NR. : WXX
    Firmware : 11.810.09.40.156
    Compile date / time : Apr 9 2011 10:45:30
    Dashboard version : 3Connect_Win_3.0.26.8_Mac_3.0.0.93
    Chipset : Qualcomm
    Voice feature : not supported in current firmware
    SIM Lock status : unlocked
    Wrong codes entered : 1 (unlock attempts left : 9)

    1. As I use a MAC, the 3 connect s/w (although it works) doesn't seem to have all the features of the Win version.
    2. Every time I plug in the modem, the dashboard folder loads onto the desktop even after installing the connect s/w.

    Is there any way to replace the 3 Connect Dashboard with a version of Mobile Partners? Any suggestios on how to stop the on board folder from loading all the time?

    BTW, the customer service and eas of use of the unlock s/w is superb! Well done.

    Thanks.

    Hi

    I think I may have stumbled onto how to do this.

    Check out this link...

    I used it to update the dashboard of my 3 Connect to Mobile Partners. The s/w versions are;

    File Version: UTPS16.001.05.00.45_MAC15.001.08.01.45_LNX15.001.0

    The 'upgrade' seems to be working and I had to created a user profile, which is very easy to do.

    Anyway, despite the weak reception in the area I am in, I was still able to get d/l speeds of 15mbps, which is the fastest I have experienced thus far.

    Again, the PC version appears to have a better user interface and more features. Furthermore, when installing the MAC version, the default language was Chinese. However, this can be changed back to English later.

    So.... Looks like I have managed to 'upgrade' my dashboard...

    Thanks.
