  • New: A Few Questions

I have a Huawei E169 from Australia that I need to unlock in order to use in the USA. I haven't tried unlocking it yet, because I have a few questions.

    1) Do I need to take the old SIM card out before trying to unlock it with DC unlocker software?

    2) Assuming I can unlock it, I have to then install unbranded software on it in order for it to run on another network? How do you put software onto one of these Huawei's?

    3) And then I have to somehow plug in new provide settings that go with a new SIM card I would like to use?

Is that all, or is there more?

    1) Yes you have to take out the old sim card before unlock the modem.

    2) Yes better to use unbranded software. Its simple, just go to this link http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/open/34 and download the dashboard, after that plug your modem and close the connection manager and run the downloaded exe.

    3) Yes go to the dashboard options and make new profile with new settings.

    BR,
    Avantha.

Provider settings you can find here: http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6669
Or you can check for settings in your provider web page.
