  • Huawei K3771 Dashboard Madness!

    Hi guys,
Bit of help if at all possible , pls.
I have an Huawei k3771 from Vodafone Australia and I updated the dashboard with a supposedly compatible generic Huawei one,
    Big mistake!

I have tried everything known to reason but I cannot get any Huawei Mobile Partner version to see it, I have tried many! Seems the drivers are unique for these models. I even tried the Huawei drivers in the download section here.

Anyway.. does anyone one have any solution? A generic flash in dashboard that works?
    Drivers?

Many thanks in advance if you can help at all.

If it won't detect the modem now you might have to have vmc installed to get it to detect the modem.

Please let us know if it works or not

OK gave it a go. I had to run Vodafone Mobile software (10.2) first to get the drivers... But... no goski. It cant detect the modem. Thanks anyway.

I think the best thing may be to just flash it back to Vodafone.

Does anyone know how I can either:

      - Flash a dashboard that has K3771 drivers
      or
      - reflash the original Vodafone Mobile Broadband Dash?

Vodafone has done a real "job" with these and the K3770.

        Thanks, a good point.

I can get it firing by first obtaining the drivers by installing Vodafone Mobile Broadband and then installing Huawei Mobile partner (used HUAWEI_Universal_Ultimate_Dashboard_UTPS16.001.06. 01.500 by Fakiro) but the issue is... It a bit of a cumbersome process; I really want to flash a working dashboard back onto the dongle, so it is portable and can installed on any computer.

Just need a compatible dashboard with the correct drivers.

That would be fantastic if you can do it!
I have seen on the boards here a lot of people have struggled with this and the K3770. Seems Vodafone have become craftier.

Oddly the latest the drivers go up to is Version 3.17.00.00.

This dash was made by Fakiro after a lot of people had similar issues with Voda's K3765 and k4505 a year or so ago. I'll have a look for the link if it helps.

I found the Fakiro dash and thought it may work after reading through this thread:
            http://www.dc-unlocker.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6102

Here's the thread where Fakiro cooked up that dash-

Yep, I did that exact method earlier.
That's to say, I first tried both yours and Fakiros without pre-installing Voda (10.2) and neither worked.
I then uninstalled both with Revo uninstaller, so there were no Huawei dashboards on the computer.
I then installed Voda 10.2 and it detected the modem.
I then closed it completely and tried Fakiros, it worked.
I then Revo uninstalled Fakiros and tried yours with a different usb port but it couldn't detect it.
So no dice, so far, unfortunately.

Yep 100% definitely a Huawei device.
                This one:

                http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/...tandard-modem/

                Will check re device name.

Is it as simple as rolling up the drivers from Vodafone's dashboard with a compatible Mobile Partner? I have tried version 16 (Fakiro mod) and the latest v23, both play fine provided the drivers are loaded via VMC first.

a k3571 is maybe the same animal unless that's a typo.
Restricts firmware choices if we can find some..US telco's maybe.
I'm not seeing pic's on Huawei site's for what that modem might actually be.
Yep, thats spot on. Its a bit of a mystery as to what these models are based on. There is no Huawei branded modem that physically resembles them.

Ok just got back on it.
Right, with Fakiros Dash fired up and working (after installing VMC to get drivers) It reports device name as "K3771" in diagnostics.

Will have a go at the next bit shortly.

OK I have had a long go at it.

Using the Wdkdi app as described in steps 1-8 below, I can run it within VMC (using it in its original folder) when it cannot see the dongle and it works and finds the device after loading 5 INF files.
Trying it the other way around on Fakiros MP as described in steps 1-8 below. No go. I get a "critical error" message.
What seems to happen is as follows:
From a computer with no Mobile Partner or VMC dashboards, I need to first load VMC to acquire the drivers, once I have done that whichever dash I first load (only VMC and Fakiros tested), that one picks up the dongle and the other cannot see it, either from the same USB port or any other one. So, if I do as above and load Fakiro's Mobile Partner first, VMC reports "no device".

                      So in summing up:
-Either Fakiros or VMC can find the dongle (providing VMC is loaded with its drivers first) but at the exclusion of the other.
                      - Using the described steps 1-8 works (without copying it across) where VMC cannot see the dongle but Fakiros Mobile Patner is unable to run the he Wdkdi app.

                        Ok.
I am doing each install in a fresh (no VMC or Mobile Partner) virtual XP Pro so as to avoid driver confusion, so should be OK in that regard.

Hey thanks for your great efforts with this

Will try out that new CellC dash ASAP. I have to get stuck into some work now (Tues 10.30AM here) but I'll give it a thorough attempt this evening.

                          Cheers.

                            Back on it...

Well I tried that dash (thanks) but no go, unfortunately, it doesn't pick up the dongle. Note: I installed VMC for the drivers first.
Whatever Fakiro did to the MP16 version that he cooked up for "K" series Vodafone dongles does work, provided that the drivers are installed and I found that the very latest one from Huawei (MP23) does too, provided the drivers are there.
So far no dash I have found, other than Voda's own one, can load the drivers.
Also please note, I noticed a something odd when the VMC is installing the drivers. First, I see a notification that I have not seen before as the various XP notification balloons pop off for "Found new hardware". You get the usual "CD Rom", "Storage device" etc but there is an extra one named "Vodafone Extra control device" - perhaps the have added something tricky there?

Well, at this point, yes! If you could make Voda's Dash flashable, I'll probably just go ahead and put that back. At least I will be able to use it with either Fakiro's or the latest Huawei MP.
Kinda annoying that Voda have 'won" with their latest attempt to lock up the hardware though!

                            Cheers.

That's great! Thanks - I'll try it out in the morning (11pm here now)

This is the link to MP 23 from Huawei's site. Can be a bit slow to load at some times of the day,
The site is in Chinese but the Dash is mostly in English.
