If you want to unlock it, you do not need to put it to any modes.
You have just to turn on the phone normally.
Drivers should install from phone when you connect it. Install PC suite also - some drivers come with it.

Try to open the storage that is created after you connect phone and install drivers from there.
Also, install phone software that comes with phone.
