  • U8180 Half Unlocked :S ???

Used this software a few months back to try to unlock my U8180. Eventually seemed to have managed to do it using a friends laptop running XP without too much trouble. However it seems to have only half unlocked it.

Am wanting to have another go at it. My problem is that since I ran DC Unlocker to try to unlock my phone, my phone no longer asks me for a code when I insert a different network's sim card. This means I am unable to go down the unlock code route because I can't make the phone ask me for the code.

I tried the latest version of unlocker. It still reports that my phone is unlocked. It did say locked before I ran unlocker the first time to unlock. So now it says unlocked but won't let me use any sim card other than the original one which came with the phone and doesn't ask for a code either.

Anyone have any clue as to the situation with this phone, how I can either completely unlock it with unlocker or alternatively how to "relock" it so I can try with an unlock code istead?

Could you copy here what is detected?
Also, what do you mean it does not allow to use other sim?

      DC output

      Hi Vincentas,

Phone will only work with the original T-Mobile sim card. I've tried two O2 sim cards, two Tesco sim cards, a Three sim card and a Virgin Sim card. Android boots normally but it shows no signal, won't make a call or send or recieve data. The phone and data side of things will only work with my T-Mobile sim card inserted. Before I tried to unlock, it would ask me to enter an unlock code when I inserted a non T-Mobile sim card but since running DC Unlocker, it no longer asks for the code.

The DC unlocker output is as follows:

      DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.0884

      Detecting phone :

      selection :
      manufacturer - Huawei phones
      model - Auto detect (recommended)

      Fastboot version : 0.5
      Product : U8150
      Model : Huawei U8180/SFR STARSHINE
      IMEI : 357232043378346
      Serial NR. : D5J4CD11A2507281
      Firmware : U8180-1V100R001C00B620_EFS
      SIM Lock status : unlocked

      Thanks,

      Dan K

        8150/8180

Just wanted to add that since running DC Unlocker, I flashed a version of Cyanogen which is for the 8180 and 8150 and that's why it shows 8150. However I had exatly the same problem before updating Android so the problem is not in connection to the ROM upgrade.

If phone accept other provider sim, means it is unlocked. We have many phones with this version unlocked without problems.
Check, if sim cards are working.
Check, maybe sim card is incorrectly installed.
Check in phone settings, maybe only 3g or 2g selected and maybe thats why you can not see network.

            Thanks

Sounds like the sim lock is removed then. But sim cards work in my other phone. They are inserted just the same way. I did get the Three one working. I accept DC Unlocker must have done it's job in removing the sim lock. So thats good. Now its up to me to investigate futher to find out why it will only work with Hutison owned networks. Maybe its to do with the huwawei phone and not the sim lock.

Having looked at other cheap phone's compatibility on the internet, it seems some only work with certain providers. Maybe this is also true of my 8180.

            Thanks
