  • Unlocking U8180--Successful eventually

    Hi all,
Just a quick post to maybe help some people out as the instructions everyone points to seem to be slightly flawed.

I tried this on my main PC (W7x64) and had real issues installing the drivers. Because of the proclamation that I needed an internet connection at this stage, it seems to have gone off and got whatever generic driver it could get from MS, rather than the downloaded drivers. I couldn't seem to change this behaviour, and when I tried to install the drivers manually was told that there were no W7x64 compatible drivers in the folder.

I moved over to my laptop, W7x64 as well, downloaded the drivers, SWITCHED OFF MY INTERNET CONNECTION, and successfully installed the drivers manually. No error message.
Switched back on the internet, downloaded dc-unlocker, put in my details--bingo! Job done.

In a nutshell, ignore the instruction to choose to search automatically for the drivers in W7, choose to do it manually. I couldn't get rid of the driver that MS decided I required.

I hope that helps someone else.

      Yes, you need 10 credits.
