Huawei E5331 - Network connection type is locked

I recently bought a 3 PAYG Huawei E5331 Mifi modem. The device is great, easy to set up and use. I've unlocked it to be able to use data cards from other mobile network operators, working fine with a Vodafone data card.

My problem is that the E5331 sold by "3" has the "Network Preferred mode" admin setting locked to "3G Only".

There should be 3 options available here - "3G Only", "2G Only" and "Auto". I want to set Auto as there is no 3G coverage around where I live so I'd be happy with 2G if 3G wasn't available.

DC-unlocker reports the device as unlocked - but the network connection type is still locked.

Do you have an unlock code for this or factory firmware that is fully unlocked ?

DC-Unlocker can only unlock device to be able to use all providers SIM cards. DC-Unlocker cannot change settings in admin interface.

Hi,

Try to disconnect from (GSM/UMTS) network first.
Then change your preference and reconnect to network.
