  • Ovation MC950D- card not found, diagnostic port not found

    Hi,

    I have a Rogers ovation mc950d.
My netbook runs Win 7 32-bit, and dc unlocker software can't detect the modem.
I installed the drivers and software from the usb stick, but am not sure if that worked okay. The mobilink software seems to work okay, and is telling me the device is locked, when I insert a sim.

    How can I unlock it?

    Thanks for any help!

Some more info: I tried on another computer with WinXP, and there the modem gets detected.
    Result is as follows
Sim Lock Status: Locked (PH-NET PIN)

I plan on using this modem in Europe next week and don't have a working SIM card, so I popped in an old german one I had around from last year, but i no longer have the PIN for it.

Can the modem be unlocked without a SIM in it?
Unfortunately, I won't have access to an XP computer, once I leave.
And does anyone have any advice how to install the modem under Windows 7?

Yes, you can unlock it with no sim inserted. I think it should install driver from modem and work from on windows 7 also.

I have purchased the credits, after discovering that the Mobilink software was still running in the background, and messing up the unlocker software.
The modem now shows as unlocked.
Is it normal that the Mobilink lite needs to run each time, when I plug in the modem, before the generic version can detect the modem?

And I don't see the modem under listed as a device under "computer", but it does show up in the device manager. Does that mean it will run with Windows 7?

I won't be able to test the modem with a sim until I arrive in Germany.
        Thanks, and wish me luck!

Try to install everything on windows 7 and will see, if it works. You can test it wil any sim. Just install on win7.

            Thanks!

I'll report back in when I arrive in Germany this weekend and have a sim card to try the modem with!

Did you you close the connection software? If not, then try to close it and detect by autodetect.

Check, if no other modem or phone is connected and nothing is taking the port. Also can try to use other drivers. Try to check again in task manager, if the connection software is closed for sure.
