thanks, it seems to fix the problem, but I can't get HSDPA speeds, with other modems do it without problems. I have read that the problem may be firmware version. Can you update the firmware?

I found a firmware for this model, but I could not test it because I did not have this modem model now into my hands.
Seems that changes internal dashbard (that limited connection customization), but must be tested first.
        Name of file is:
        MUU_FW3.18.02_PwrTiming_MLite2.08.36.b010_PkgA (Novatel Wireless MC950D - MC930D - X950D FirmWare upgrade).exe

...MLite probably is Mobilink lite version or may be customized software version...

Great, I found a page where you can download a firmware that seems recent but the download is password-protected.

          The link is: Novatel Wireless MC950D - MC930D - X950D FirmWare upgrade (2008-08-12)

And a firmware from Vodafone web:

          Mobile Connect USB-Stick UMTS Broadband Novatel MC950D - Firmware-Upgrade 3.18.02

          File: FW3.18.02_QoS_VF_D2_PkgB.zip

It's the same firmware version that you have but I guess that with vodafone software as connect manager.

Can you send me the firmware to test it on my MC950D? I dont use Vodafone so i prefer the mobilink software.

Yeahh, the update was correctly and now the modem always connect at HSUPA speed and, of course, the speed has improved dramatically.

As Fakiro actually suggested the software installed on the modem was Mobilink Lite (version V2.08.36.52 Build 010).

Thanks you very much for the help, now it's a pleasure to use the 3G conection with the modem.

I also have the Ovation MC950D Card and have unlocked with DC-unlocker. But I just tried another simm card and I'm getting a message that my stick is not properly configured, yada, yada.... My original simm came from Fido and I popped in a Rogers simm.

                    Is this a firmware issue?

No,you need to enter correct settings according to the sim (Operator).

Yes, thank you, after much fiddling, I've figured out where the settings panel is and where to find the settings to make the appropriate changes. Everything appears to be working fine now.

Yeah, I've just returned from France and Italy, and wherever I went I was able to use sims from Symio, Orange, TIM, and another I can't remember. It all worked fine, but a $20 sim card didn't give me a whole lot of time.

I would recommend against fiddling with the firmware. If your stick is unlocked and it's not working, then your settings are right. Oh yes, I downloaded a generic dialer, the original moblinklite didn't work.

I'm a very happy camper, the stick worked great, whenever I needed it.
