Could you try to detect this modem with dc-unlocker software and copy here what is detected?

I found out it gets detected as a ge0301. the card is not really locked. the problem is the vodafone software (loaded inside the card) that won't allow me to change the apn.

what software shall I use? I tried several from option but they don't recognize the card.

This modem is supported. If it is not locked, you need to use unbranded (not customised by provider) connection software.
You can try to downlaod here: http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/open/31
After installing enter your new provider conenction settings to software. Then connect modem. Wait till original software starts, then close it, start this software and try to connect.

Vodafone e3730 is option express 421, not GT HSUPA (GX0301) and it is not supported.
Do you see qualcomm logo on the modem?
