  • Help needed urgently!

I seem to have successfully unlocked my usb modem but I do not know what to do after. It is an Option Globetrotter 225 that was locked onto the Orange Spanish network. What do I do to make it accept prepaid sims from other companies??

If after unlock your connection software does not accept other provider sim cards, you need to download unbranded connection software. you can download it here: http://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads/open/31
After donwloading install ot and enter correct you provider sonnection settings. Ig you do not know them, you can find them here: http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?T...earchTerms=apn

Thank you for your reply. I am still having problems though. I am using the unbranded software and when try to connect to the internet, all I can get is local access and not internet access. When I run a Vista diagnostic, it says that I have a DNS server error and that it cannot repair it. I have tried everything but I don't know how to fix this problem because I don't know why it is getting this error. Please help, if you can.

Could you tell me, what you mean saying "local access "?

When I am connected fully to the internet and able to browse, I have local and internet. I am not entirely sure what local is unless it just means the local network but not full access to the internet. In Network Connections in Vista, the green line stops after connecting to the device. The next connection would be to the internet but there is a big X.
I have run Vista diagnostic on it and it comes back with a DNS server error... it cannot ping the DNS. I have also tried pinging the DNS through command prompt but I get no joy.
In short, ping told me that it sent 4 packets off and all failed. I don't know what to do now. I don't know how to resolve the DNS server. Worst of all, I don't actually know what went wrong.

Could you try to use this modem on other computer? Better on xp based. There should be no more settings as APN, username, password from the link I wrote you. Only these settings are needed for connection.

              Hello,

Strangely, an Australian mobile internet company called DODO requires the Profile Name to be 335D1, otherwise the modem fails to connect to the internet.

Most other mobile internet providers in Australia (3, optus, virgin, telstra, vodafone, exetel...) let you put any name in the Profile Name box and connect to the internet.

Also what is the Authentication Protocol....CHAP or PAP

              Most APN settings are .......Static

              Most IP settings are ......Dynamic

Most DNS settings are ...... Dynamic

Most WINS Settings are ...... Dynamic

                Hey all,

                Thanks for having this discussion.

I have been a PC person for about 15 years but switched to a Mac this year for my photography (I know, I know, I should have kept SOME form of PC, right? Please don't kick me . I now cannot find a version of the dc unlocker for Mac. Can someone show me a link to a Mac version or calculate the Huawei e160 unlock code for me? My IMEI is 353871029576177.

                Thanks so much!
                JT

Sorry, dc unlocker does not work on mac. Dc unlocker has no option to calculate the unlock code. It reads the code from the modem and enterrs it.
