  • Option 431 (GI0431)

    Hi there.
    I got a brand new GI0431 in exchange for my old 225 yesterday (T-Mobile sent me a new one because old one was broken before the end of warranty).

    Now my problem ...
    I'd like to have the new firmware on it by Option (DC-Unlocker already tells me it's unlocked), but the "Superfire.exe" (Firmware Updater) tells me (short form), that "my device is unsupported" ....

    Maybe someone could help me out?

    Thanks in advance from Germany and sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes :/

    ah well never mind ... got it ...

    well in case somebody gets same problem as me:

    * download hex-editor of your choice
    * download original superfire.exe
    * create copy of superfire.exe (just in case)
    * open superfire.exe
    * enable log
    * wait till it says "not supported"
    * close superfire.exe
    * open logfile (same folder as superfire.exe)
    * scroll down and you find something like "GI0431-xxxxx" not supported
    * open superfire.exe with hexeditor
    * search for (hexadecimal!!) 4700490030 (which is G<null>I<null>0 in "text-form")
    * you will find something similar to your device that is originally NOT supported
    * edit these (in text-form) to your id (should only be 3 (in my case) or 4 numbers)
    * save *.exe (same file, else it wont work! - i tried ^^)
    -----------
    * NOW ... IMPORTANT
    * get the ORIGINAL drivers from option.com or somewhere else
    ELSE IT WILL GIVE YOU AN ERROR and you'll have to restart because your device is not detected properly anymore until restart!
    * after you installed the drivers, simply run superfire.exe and wait

    at the end u'll have original FW on it ... congrats =)

    (works similar on other option devices)

      Addition:

      This will NOT change software on the stick.

      to do THIS, search for the right version in TEXT-form in the .exe

      you can see the version you want see the version on the FIRST page opening the installer (e.g. 93.60.1)

      Search exactly for this string.

      You will find 2 entries very close to another. Edit this to 200.0.0 like this:

      93.60.1
      |
      v
      200.00.0

      note: the dots are 2E in hex!

      after changing both entries, it will upgrade to the original software, keeping the RIGHT software-version (this is a different entry we dont want to edit )

      have fun!

            Hi, can you please explain what has to be done with the extra digit in the in the hex editor.

            It's just there is an extra digit in 200.00.0 compared to 93.60.1 what happens to the extra digit? How do you fit in the extra digit?

              Nevermind

              Problem solved, I was inserting the new pretend software version number rather than overwriting the old one.
