  • Optus network not working with Sierra Aircard 312U (and other Telstra devices)

I successfully unlocked my 312U with DC unlocker, but afterwards it never allowed me to use my optus Sim properly. It seems to detect the sim, but never gets any reception or allows me to connect (just tries searching forever).

I have other Mobile Broadband devices, which originated from telstra, and it seems that everytime i try to unlock one of these devices, it wont work with the Optus network afterwards. I even have an Huawei phone, which was originally locked to telstra, and after successfully unlocking it, same thing, no reception.

Is Telstra putting some kind of block on these devices that dc-unlocker is not removing?

Have you set correct connection settings for another card to work with your device? Like adding new profile along with appropriate apn parameters.

Have you tried more sim cards with device? Does it still work with it's original card?

Yes. I have 2 telstra and 2 optus cards. Both telstra work fine, both optus dont work.

Try to use other provider (not telstra or optus sim) is it accepted?

Thanks for your time and help but i solved it myself. I downloaded the Telstra Universal Connection Manager and bam, works like a charm so far.

I must note, so far i have only got one of the other Telstra Devices (ZTE MF688a) to work. I am using an Optus sim in it.

I will test to see if the Universal Connection Manager does the same for the Sierra 312u, if it does i shall post here for others having the same problem.

How i got my ZTE MF688a (Telstra Elite) to work with optus network(for other people having same problem) :

              1.Unlocked it using dc unlocker.

              2.Go to: http://www.telstra.com.au/business-e...ads/index.htm#
and download the Telstra Universal Connection Manager(overwrites old connection manager). Follow the installation steps.

3.Once installed, go to tools>options>account and change apn to desired apn (mine is preconnect)

              From there it should work

If the Sierra works, it will be the same deal.
