How to use the voice function of AirCard 881?

i have unlocked the voice function on my AirCard 881, but I still cannot make phone calls from my laptop. The 3G watcher does show a phone dial pad, but when i dialed the number, it says "no headset". So what kind of headset is compatible with this card? I didn't find a headphone jack on the card, and customer service at sierra wireless told the AirCard 881 does not support voice. I am really comfused.

      Also confused...

Are these pins on the MiniPCI-E card that are used for the headset? That would be a bit frustrating...I want to use my normal headset!

        Confused about headset function...

Which pins are they on the MiniPCI-E card, and is it possible to wire them into a netbook audio subsystem?

Not all notebooks support this feature. Dc unlocker enable the dial pad to do calls, but not all notebooks can support voice calls even if it is enabled on modem.

            That's not at all helpful.

What permits certain notebooks to do voice? Are the headset pins hardwired to the soundcard or the landline-modem?

Which notebooks do you know of that can do voice?

I already know what the voice-enable feature does: I've made calls with it, just without audio!

Sorry, we have no information about what notebooks support voice feature.

And the second part of my question?

Can I wire certain pins from the MiniPCI-E header into the audio input/output jacks on my soundcard? Why wouldn't that work?

Most current Dialogue Flybook's support Voice calls using the MC8775V's installed.

I have been down this road with Sierra Wireless, who have point blank refused to entertain the pin layout of any of their Embedded modules.

                    Suggestion

Hmm...I think I've been a bit too antagonistic on this thread. Sorry! I just don't like it when people tell me I "can't" do something because it's "not supported."

I believe the pin layouts are probably the same for all MiniPCI-E internal 3G modems, so you might not even need to ask Sierra; Option and Novatel make voice-enabled cards as well. The real trick would be wiring the "headset" pins to the auxiliary inputs on the sound card to allow for volume control, etc. Since this is a netbook, I kind of wonder whether there even are any extra auxiliary inputs. That would also allow for the use of the internal speakers and mic.

                        Hi ,
I was asking myself if there is anybody who solved this important problem....
I'd like to use my netbook (Acer_AOA150bw) as a cellular phone...

                        Maybe somebody knows the How-TO......

                        Merry Christmas

                          Hi everybody ,

I'd like to say an happy New Year to all members of this Forum....

Furthermore, as I am very satisfied of my Acer AOA150bw with Sierra's MC 8781V, I'd like to say that I am willing to pay somebody who can help me to "hardwiring" the audio pinout of MC8781V to soundcard Input so that I can use my AOA150bw as cellular phone (with ext headset and micro).

Thanks who can help me to make this job.

                          Bye for now
