  • MC8755 - "modem not found!"

    Hello,
I've downloaded the newest version of DC-unlocker (DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.0629) and installed it. My modem SierraWireless MC8755 is installed (with the correct drivers) and works fine with an unlocked SIM-card but not with a locked one.
The 3G Watcher is installed but not startet. The modem is not connected to the internet and I used the "Auto detect" mode (I also tried the mode with manual settings with the ports shown in the Windows XP device manager with the same result)
Although I did everything as mentioned in earlier threads, I got the message "modem not found!".
Can you please help me running the tool so it will detect the MC8755?

    Thanks and kind regards,
    Andy

    Try to use other drivers.
Try to use older version of dc-unlocker.
Check in task manager, if there are no sierra watcher processes left running.

      Hi Vincentas,
thanks for your quick response. I've already tried the oldest version of dc-unlocker I could find in the download area and there is no watcher process or any related process running.
I don't know where to get other drivers from so I can't try that approach. Do you have any other ideas? I've got Norton 360° running and switched it off, also with no satisfatory result.

      Kind regards,
      Andy

Sorry, do not know where the problem may be more. Try other drivers with other watcher version. Maybe this will help.
        Does watcher see the modem?

Yes, the watcher recognizes the card. It connects with a vodafone-sim-card.

Is watcher also vodafone branded? If so, then try unbranded one with unbranded drivers.

The watcher isn't branded and afaik the drivers aren't branded also (I guess that because the drivers are installed within the installation of the 3G Watcher).
I used the same version on a win7 computer with an other MC8755 card and the locked sim-card works fine in that combination.
I guess I have to accept that I can't unlock the card with DC-Unlocker. Is there an other way to unlock it?

              Kind regards,
              Andy

Sorry, if modem can not be detected by dc-unlocker, it can not be unlocked also.
