Aircard 880U

G'day,
I have a little problem I'm hoping someone can help me with please.

I have an Aircard 880U I purchased from Bigpond, Australia when I had an account with them.

Anyway, long story short, some time ago, the Bigpond Wireless service no longer met my needs.

I contacted Bigpond today because I'll need wireless broadband for the next few months for work, and Bigpond said that as my card was previously registered to an account (i.e. MINE!), the Aircard can no longer be used as the IMEI is registered to another account. (and it's 'too hard' and 'takes too long' to deregister!)

So, I thought, I'll just unlock it.

Here in lies the problem. Since my Bigpond account has been closed for so long, I can no longer remember the user/pass (I THINK I have the username, but not too sure)

When I try to unlock it, the latest version of DC Unlocker detects it not as the 880U, but an MC8780. (and says card not present if I try to force 880U)

If I go along with the MC8780 and try to unlock, it asks me for a user/pass.

As I said, I THINK I remember the username, but I have no idea on the pass!

Is there any way I can get around this? Can't I just factory rest the card?

(or maybe alter the IMEI number so I can sign up again with BP using the same card)

Please help if you can as I don't want to have to buy another $300 Aircard just because Bigpond Australia are arseholes.

Ahh, ok - It's not MY user/pass from Bipond it was seeking, but from DC-Unlocker itself!

So I've paid for credits and the program SAYS it's unlocked - so we'll see when I get another simcard.

It still detects it as MC8780 rather than 880U though....

(and what does enabling Voice Feature do?)

That modem internally has an MC8780 mini pci-e module, so it's all fine. Just pop-in your sim and away you go.

Enabling voice does just that it enables the "voice" part of the device allowing you to receive and make calls. Not very useful if you only use it as a modem. If you enable it the 3g watcher will active the phone dialler parts of the application.
