Hello

I recently unlocked my bigpond ultimate wifi or sierra wireless 753s which is locked on the bigpond network. I inserted a Virgin sim card and it recognised it but when I try to connect to the internet with the modem, it always directs to http://ultimate.bigpond. What should I do? What are the steps required after I have unlocked my modem, in order to use my Virgin prepaid mobile broadband sim card?

With unlocked modem you need to use not customized software and enter your new provider connection settings (APN, username and others).

That's the problem. When I put my Virgin sim card in my modem, and enter on any website, it directs to http://ultimate.bigpond and I haven't installed any connection software. It comes up with a popup, asking me to create an account with bigpond, and I can't bypass the popup or close it, hence, I can't enter the apn settings etc.

Can you help me with this?

Try to use other software for connecting.
Try to update firmware to unbranded.

If device accept other sim card, means it is unlocked.

Unlock is done if device accept other provider sim. Other configuration (like firmware or software updates, settings) left to user.
Sorry, no refund can be done.

Advanced Settings

You need to log into your modem / router using this URL

http://ultimate.bigpond/advanced.html

and change the network by editing the network and default profile (if needed). You will need to get your network settings from your provider ie APN etc

After installing drivers, the modem will default to Hotspot Homepage http://ultimate.bigpond which has to be change to http://ultimate.bigpond/advance.html in order to add your service provider profile:

Advance Settings=>WAN=>Setup=>Profiles=>Add/Edit Profiles
example:
Name: amaysim
APN: internet
Auth Type: CHAP
Username:
Password:

To rename default WiFi network name:
Advance Settings=>WiFi=>Network=>SSID

Solution for some force activation problem of this modem

After installing drivers, the modem will default to Hotspot Homepage http://ultimate.bigpond which has to be change to http://ultimate.bigpond/advance.html in order to add your service provider profile:
