  • Qualcomm 9222 (Gobi ?)

    Hi all,

This is similar but not the same as the other Qualcomm thread..
    I have a new Sony Z51-XG with Qualcomm HS-USB Modem 9222.

DC Unlocker result (set to detect Huawei cards

    ==============================

    DC - Unlocker 2 Client 1.00.0388

    Detecting card :

    selection :
    manufacturer - Huawei datacards
    model - Auto detect

    Found modem : 88
    IMEI : 355891021XXXX11 (I added the XXXX)
    Firmware : 1020-SUUAASMA-4352 1 [Apr 14 2008 18:00:00]
SIM Lock status : unknown(read failed)

sorry, this card not supported !

    Please, check manufacturer's selection !

    ==============================

For some other manufacturers, it is not detected, for some it gives the same results as above..

I am running W7 and could probably find drivers if necessary.
I am in the UK and I believe this modem is locked to Orange.

    Any thoughts on unlocking please?

    Cheers all

PS On reading a bit more here, I believe you don't yet have a solution for this??

      INTERESTING information about Qualcomm 9222

      Hi all,

      AS TITLE....

My Z51 had Orange mobile internet on it..
After much searching I found 'One Click Internet' unbranded.

I can supply a link assuming I have not lost it. I am not sure about the policy for posting links here is................................

Using this totally unbranded program, ANY SIM will work. Before - with the Orange program, even an Orange PAYG SIM would not work.

      Now, I have sucessfully used:

      Orange PAYG
      Three
      T-Mobile
      BT Mobile (which is Voda)

      This is in the UK.

I *also* suspect as the chip is the QualComm Gobi (see their web site) the chip has inbuilt (but disabled) GPS!! After all, mobile phone use similar (or even this chip) and have HSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, AND GPS - so why not if the chip is in a laptop ?!?!

This is however a work in progress but I will try to post again if I succeed!!

Cheers all and Happy New Year....

OK, well I can't unlock as such.
As I say above I don't think mine was locked as such, the problem was that the software supplied was generic.

You need Gobi drivers for sony and Gobi 'images' for sony.
Then SmartWi for sony as well.

These are for Z790 but seem to work for me..
You end up with an 'unbranded' interconnect pro
          hTEE.TEE.PEE://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNZ790DKB&SelectOS=47

Then scroll down to wireless.. 4 items.

Hope this helps but it won't unlock the modem.

          Cheers all.
