  • Zte mf61 - thank you!

I picked up a T-Mobile ZTE MF61 (locked) for $35 on Black Friday, hoping I could unlock it. I was a little skeptical of getting it to work after using DC-unlocker based on a lot of the forum posts mentioning that they'd get stuck seeing "Searching..." on the device's LCD.

ANYWAYS, this is what I did to get it working in case anyone else is having issues. Note that you can ONLY get this working on a network which supports UMTS Band IV (1700 MHz/2100 MHz) OR on the 1900 MHz frequency (this will limit it to EDGE speeds).
    • Plug in the device with the STOCK SIM card installed.
    • Install the modem software.
    • Browse to the admin page of the device.
    • In the settings, set the APN settings for the network you want to connect the device to (i.e., the non-stock/network-locked SIM's network settings).
    • Set these new APN settings as the default.
    • Unplug the device.
    • Turn off the device.
    • Take out the battery and replace the stock SIM with the non-stock SIM (i.e., the network-locked SIM).
    • Turn the device on.
    • Plug the device back into your computer.
    • Install DC-Unlocker after having bought your credits (7 for this particular device).
    • Set DC-Unlocker to auto-detect the modem. It should detect it without any issues.
    • Finally, hit the Unlock button. The device should become unlocked without any problems.
    • Your device will restart. It will connect to the new network. You will be able to browse on the Internet.
