  • Connection With MF622, But No Connection With Unlocked MF626

    Hello everyone,

I'm new here and new to anything about USB Modems.
Just stumbled on information on DC Unlock website while doing a search of how to unlock my dongle, a few days ago.

I purchased some credits and successfully unlocked my ZTE MF626 dongle which was locked to TMobile.

Now, using a new simcard from Samba (3 Network), I can't connect with it to the Internet.
But I've installed and tried the ZTE_MF622_not_customised_software downloaded here and I can successfully connect with it.

However, the ZTE MF622 doesn't work unless I keep the TMobile ZTE MF626 installed on my laptop.

    My questions are:
    1) Is it possible to use the ZTE MF622 only?
    2) If yes, how do I get rid of ZTE MF626?

    Your help is appreciated.

It might be so that after you uninstall mf626 software some drivers for it are deleted as well. You can check if your device appears correctly after uninstalling in device manager (It should appear under Modems as well as Ports lines without no "?" or "!" marks). If after uninstalling your device it appears with "?" or "!" marks then right click on it and select update drivers, then locate folder where mf622 software is installed there should be driver folder, try to install them.

      Thanks for the reply.

I have managed to reinstall the drivers, but it was not easy.
It seems the drivers in the MF622 installation folders are not compatible with Windows 7, because Device Manager said it could not find any in there.

What I did was to install MF626, backup the drivers to a folder and then reinstall from the backup folders.

However I now have one other problem: although it looks like I'm connected, whenever I launch the browser, I'm still offline and cannot access any webpage.

Does connection manager see the modem? If so, did you enter new provider connection settings (apn, username and others)?

          1) Yes, I suppose it recognizes the modem because it displays the network name from the Simcard.
          2) It actually connects to the internet only to the default network settings from the software which is 'EUROCOM', but it's not my network.
I think it's put there to show that the modem works with the software. It shows that you are connected to the internet but it seems it's just for testing purposes.
          3) I have added my new APN settings which is '3internet' as given by the provider, who also says to leave the username and password blank.
I did not receive any other settings than the APN settings.
But connection manager keeps giving the message: 'The remote server is not responding in a timely fashion'.

Unticking the "Operator Assisted Dialing" Option on the "Advance" Tab in the "Manage Adapter Settings" Window. Try It. Let us know if it helped out.

There is no 'Manage Adapter Settings' option in the MF622 control panel.
I can see only 'Network Settings' with 'Eurocom' as default network.
From there I have the option to add a new network but there is no options in that screen with 'Manage Adapter Settings'.

Are you sure that sim card is working?

Yes, the Simcard is working fine, because I've put it in my android phone, connected to the internet using packet data and browsed some webpages without problem.
I wonder if we are talking about the same software (MF622).
Even the original MF626 which was locked to TMobile does not have a 'Manage Adapter Settings' option in the connection settings panel.

It is not on the connection manager software, option to disable assisted dialing is in network connections.

XP - Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
Vista - Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Network Connections
7 - Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings

Then on the top click the Advanced menu
Uncheck Operator-Assisted Dialing if it is checked there.

I've checked and the 'Operator-Assisted Dialing' is unchecked; so I've left it unchecked.

Does the device shows same error with other cards as well? If it's only with the one that you try now, problem might be with the provider of the network. Also it might be so that mf622 software is not compatible with your device.

I can't try with any other card because I don't have another dongle simcard with internet data.
Could you suggest another unbranded software instead?

I did a search and found a Join Air 1.0 package but the drivers do not work on my Windows 7 x64 laptop and it doesn't come with an update check option.

I just wanted to mention something I noticed: the connection manager has a problem accessing the modem permanently because the dongle first connects as Mass Storage launching the original TMobile MF626 install setup or if installed, it launches the TMobile connection manager.
Since I cannot use it with my Samba simcard, then I close it.
However, when I close it, it also deactivates the USB drive altogether.
So that I have to relaunch the unlocked ZTE MF622 Connection Manager several times before it can recognises it.
But then the drive stays active only for a few minutes and then disappears again.
Maybe this is the reason why the internet connection is difficult.

Is there a way to modify dongle autostart settings or remove the MF626 from it?
