  • Need help MF636 after upgrading firmware from different company

So you reflashed with Telstra firmware for the MF636?

I have googled all over for a generic firmware like the Huawei 220 has. No luck for the ZTE MF636.

I have unlocked my ZTE MF636 from Indosat and want to put Telkomsel or a generic version.

What's good unlocking these things if we are locked out of manually searching for other providors? Which Indosat software does. There's no software to pop in another provider...

For the MF636, they are getting to work in Ubuntu with Terminal and the Custom AT commands. Anybody know if we can do this in Windows Vista?

the good thing is you can use the modem with all operators. The Indosat dashboard can be used for telkomsel card or xl card.

      so no worry...

I unlocked Indosat mf636 and then put the Telkomsel sim in there. The search providor is not clickable, so it can't find telkomsel 3g tower.

Did you solve your problem yet?

I use indosat 3.5g dashboard and it detects my telkomsel card just fine.

I am online using it right now.

is your modem light blue or yellow? and also did you set up the new profile for telkomsel and set it as default?

            Thanks for that information.

Yes I put in the telkom info and set as default.

The light is always yellow. The dashboard says no sim. I'm thinking that this is because the Telkomsel signal around here is weak.

there is nothing wrong with the signal. The dashboard indicates that there is no signal with the sim card then it means something's wrong with the sim card.

There are 3 posibilities. One is the sim card is defective, the other one is you haven't properly unlocked the modem, and last but not least, the modem is defective.

I suggest you try to use the sim card on the phone and try to establish a connection with it. If it connects then there's nothing wrong with the sim card.

Step 2 is to check the modem with another sim card. If it's working then your problem is not the modem.

I would suspect the problem is the sim card though.
