  • T-Mobile ZTE-MF61 (Exact Model: Q78-ZTEMF61)

    Hi all,

I am trying to unlock this T-Mobile (USA) 4G Mobile Hotspot. Phoning T-Mobile to unlock is like trying to find the unicorn.

I have installed the ZTE/T-Mobile software can see the modems com ports in Device Manager:

    1. When I do Auto detect - It doesn't find the modem (the ports are visible in Device Manager)

    2. When I manually select the ports (see screen shot) the DC-Unlocker tool tries to connect to the port etc but throws the errors below.

Is there a way to unlock this modem or should I just use it as a door stop?

For correct ZTE modem detection, please plug modem with invalid operator SIM inserted. Wait till software starts the modem, close ZTE software and then you can detect modem with DC-Unlocker.

Yes, this device is supported and can be unlocked by dc-unlocker.
Instructions for detect and unlock you can find here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/zte-mf61...d-unlock-guide

I understand those instructions and have done exactly that and it does not work nor pick up the modem. If I specifically specify the ports as per my screen shot it says modem not supported as per the TXT from the DC-Unlocker tool I posted.

That's why I posted here to try figure out what ELSE to do to try unlock it.

You receive modem not sup;ported message because you did not detect it.
Do you see modem as cd-rom?Try to install everything from it, then restart computer and detect again.
Also, try to use drivers provided here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/file-lis...ms_and_Routers

No I don't see it as a cd-rom as per my screen shot above (as an attachment) windows correctly assigns it three com ports when the modem is on. Ports 5-7. If I do auto detect it says no modems found (as per the text I posted from dc-unlocked). If I manually specify the ports and do a search the no modem found changes to modem no supported (as per the text I supplied above). Does modem not supported mean it didn't find the modem?

I am willing to try anything else ?

You are correct @Vincentas thank you for your reply. Even thought he com ports do show Windows does also assign this as a CDROM.

What should i do to disable this so DC Unlocker can unlock it?

Ok Windows (8.1) is seeing this as a CDROM as well as T-Mobile COM ports (as per above screenshot)

              I downloaded: DRV_DC_ProductLineV1.0.0B01 which includes MF61.

I uninstalled all the T-Mobile drivers. Then rebooted
The modem came up as unknown devices. I located the ZTE install files with the ini files and pointed to there.

However: Windows installs the devices but disables them with a because drivers are not signed and it wont allow the com ports to be active.

              Any ideas?
