Yesterday I sucessfully unlocked a telstra elite MF668 after being unblocked (had WinPcap installed with first try).
The MF668 when plugged into any computer now only loads modem driver: "ZTE Proprietary USB Modem", and Port drivers: "ZTE Diagnostics Interface", and "ZTE NMEA device". (It gets these drivers from windows update). The USB mass storage, Ethernet Adapter and virtual CD drivers do not get loaded.
Before unlocking, I had uninstalled the Telstra connection manager while the modem was connected and perhaps it has uninstalled stuff from the modem itself, instead of just my computer? Anyway the modem now cannot be used with Telstra connection manager because of the missing ethernet adapter. (It can be used with the ZTE generic dashboard).
Is there any way I can recover the MF668 so it finds and installs the normal Telstra drivers instead of the windows update drivers. DC Unlocker reports the firmware as version T02.
I purchased another MF668 and unlocked it with an unlock code provided by Telstra. It loads all the correct drivers when connected.
I suspect I need to reflash the firmware but can't find firmware files or how to do it. I have tried restoring factory defaults, but that made no difference. Is it possible to extract firmware/files from the good modem and copy it to the brick?
Any suggestions (apart from chucking it!), would be appreciated?
Noel Adams.
