  • Error Code 21

    Hi,
When trying to unlock my ZTE MF636 usb modem, I get the following message:
    Unlocking, please wait ...

    unlock failed !

    (error code 21)
    What do I do?
How critical is it for mew to not unplug my modem?

How do I check to see if teh ZTE software is closed?
Also will I damage the modem if I remove it at this stage?
      Ta, Andy

Following on with this, my internet provider software is already closed if that is what the "ZTE software" is.
Also now when I try and unlock it, I get an error 24 message.
        Help!

If you still have not unlocked it, could you check in device manager if you see the modem in modems and ports sections? Try updating or rewriting the driver from dc unlocker folder.
Check, if you use the newest dc unlocker version.

            Error code 84

I'm back on the case of this and now get a "Security data error unlock failed error code 84" message. The unlocking also automatically opens the Telstra Turbo Connection Manager sofware for the modem which tells me that the modem is locked and to use the correct sim or enter the unlocking code from my provider.
            Ideas?
            Andy

Download and install Update from here (check right model, there are two mf636) and then try to unlock again.

                Hi,

In the telstra turbo connection manager/dashboard, under settings, make sure you have turned off "Automatically connect to internet"

                Then try unlocking modem.

                  still no unlock

Struggling with this one, in Turbo manager :automatically connect is unticked, new ZTE sortware downloaded and installed successfully, but still no unlock. DC Unlocker detedts the modem OK, but when trying unlock I get an error 84 message again.
I'm using a foreign prepaid phone sim, could that be part of the problem? Do I need to use a local, active sim?

                    Hi,

Try with the SIM card removed from the modem

If you remove sim from the modem, modem will not detect by DC Unlocker. You just need to have locked sim.Try this, uninstall ZTE connection manager and all other connection managers from the computer.Restart the computer and plug the modem and install the connection manager and drivers.

After the installation, connection manager will start automaticaly, then close it and try to detect the modem by DC Unlocker and unlock it.

                        Connection Managers

Avantha, you are right about no sim no being recognized. Though how do I work out what other connection managers I have apart from ZTE? I use a Fujitsu notebook with a wireless modem.

                          Hi,
I've never had a SIM in the modem when unlocking.

The modems have always been recognised, and then able to be unlocked by DC-unlocker.

I just unlocked an AMOI iNQ1 phone with no SIM in it.

                            Sim in or out

I did try. Without the sim, the modem gets recoginzed by DC Unloicker, but not the sim. So the unlock button remains grey so I can't click on it.

                              Hi Andy,

Make sure the software for the wireless modem in the Fujitsu notebook is not running. Look in device manager.

Make sure you turn off the ZTE software thats on the modem, and uninstall the new ZTE software that you have installed to the laptop so it's not running.

Let us know how you go.
