  • Unlocked mf821 now no device found

    Hi,

    how is everyone?

I just bought an Telstra Prepaid ZTE MF821, and paid 7 euros.

Downloaded the programme, replaced the sim in the 821, with a Vodaphone one, programme was set to zte, auto recognise, it recognised the 821
Then I pressed unlock, put in the user name and password,

It unlocked, the 7 went down to zero, I tried it in the laptop with the Vodaphone Sim still in it.. no device

So then swapped the sim card for tow other sim cards. .both telstra prepaids.. no device, .

So then looked in the Computer. .no drive shown at all.

Is it stuffed? Or what to do.. try and take it back under warranty?

Not sure what to do next

ps. .The Modem goes red, then Blue, but the Telstra Connection manager also reports "No Mobile Device"

    Cheers. .

    Marty

    Found modem : +CGMM: "MF821"
    Model : ZTE MF821
    IMEI : 861173000230790
    Firmware : T05
    Compile date / time : Feb 1 2012 10:08:32
    Chipset : Qualcomm MDM9200
    NAND Flash : HYNIX_HY27SF081G2A
    SIM Lock status : unlocked

ok, spent another 7 euros, and now it shows the above, in the DC-Unlocker programme..

But still shows as device not found in either the Vodaphone software or the Telstra Connection Manager..

    Cheers.. Marty

I think Nand Flash is just a type of storage..

I tried diagnostic port, but got this

" Enabling ZTE diagnostic port ... OK

        Restarting modem ...

        AT command error"

Solved after you contacted by live chat. You had to disable diagnostic port and modem became working again.

The modem I have shows that it is unlocked.

In device manager Ports(COM and LPT)

I should have ZTE Mobile broadband AT Port

but I now have ZTE Mobile Broadband NMEA Port

How do I change the NMEA to an AT Port?

              Thanks

Did you try to do the steps as described in this thread? http://www.dc-unlocker.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3217

                  Hi,

Yes, and I need to change the NMEA Port to an AT Port.

My modem will not auto detect in the DC-Unlocker client.

In device manager the modem connects on COM Ports 3 and 4

When auto detected in client it cannot detect the modem as the client says that one of the Ports is COM 5.

I can manually detect the modem in the client by changing COM 5 Port to COM 4 Port. Then clicking on detect.

The ZTE Mobile Broadband Diagnostic Port (COM3) needs to be listed in Device Manager(AS IT IS CREATED WHEN THE ORIGINAL MF821 Connection manager/drivers are installed from the modem) and the modem is plugged in.

The other Port needs to be ZTE Mobilebroadband AT Port COM4, but it is showing as ZTE Mobilebroadband NMEA Port COM4 in device manager.

Pretty sure it will be able to be changed/fixed by sending AT commands to the modem via the DC-unlocker Client.

                    Hi,

                    Modem now working.

Have done a study of what happens when the dongle is plugged into
                    a PC.

The modem installs into device manager in USB as a "Composite Device"

The ZTE also appears in Network Adapters in device manager.

Created in the COM and LPT Ports in device manager there are .....

ZTE Mobile Broadband Diagnostics Port COM 7

ZTE Mobile Broadband NMEA Port COM 8

The NMEA Port needs to be...... ZTE Mobile Broadband AT Port COM 8 or
                    preferable COM 3

The Telstra connection Manager was downloaded from Telstra and installed on the PC.

When the connection manager is manually run on the PC(as "auto-run" on the modem seems to be disabled) it says "No Mobile Device Found".

When I try and auto detect the modem in the DC-unlocker Client, it will
not auto detect, as the Client says that the the COM ports are different.

When I manually detect and set the correct ports myself the modem can be
                    detected.

Being unlocked, the only option button highlighted is the "Enable
Diagnostics Port", I click on that and the client says modem rebooting to
enable diagnostics port, and then shows an error..... AT Command Error

It appears that the virtual CD on the dongle does not run and install the
Telstra connection manager and the drivers.

I manually installed the Telstra UCM (Universal Connection Manager) from
the Telstra site, which is also the default connection manager installed
                    on the modem.

The modem seems to have auto run turned off.......so in DC-unlocker Client
I ran some AT Commands and the modem responds to the AT Commands.

To re-enable this feature(autorun CDROM) I input the AT Command
                    AT+ZCDRUN=9

I also went into advanced in the Device Manager COM and LPT Ports and
Modified the COM ports to, Diagnostics on COM3 and NMEA port on COM4

Remove modem from PC and plug modem into a PC that doesn't have any Telstra connection manager, and the Virtual CDROM in the modem fires and installs up the Telstra Connection Manager and installs the Drivers.

ZTE Mobile Broadband NMEA Port COM 8 is now shown in device manager as a ZTE Mobile Broadband AT Port COM 4

The ZTE Mobile Broadband Diagnostics Port COM 7 is now shown as COM3 in
                    device manager.

The modem initializes and finds the 4G network and connects. Wooo Hoooo......7 hours later.

Just checked the modem on a neighbours old Laptop and it self installed
the Telstra Connection Manager and Drivers, and connects to the internet.
