  • ZTE MF61: Virtaul Drive GONE after Running DC-Unlocker

    Vincentas, Gintas et al;

Originally when I connected via usb, the virtual drive + a link to the SD automatically appeared in My Computer, the drivers loaded - good to go.

After attempting to unlock this thing with DC- Unlock - unsuccessfully - the unit doesn't function the same. No virtual drive, no driver install, no SD mem card access. It does show up in the HW manager as a "ZTE Proprietary USB Modem" but of course DC-Unlocker doesn't see/ detect it as before.

Initially the unit registered as a "ZTE Mobile Connect - Network Adapter" just as the Huawei UMG 587 I'm using now.

    Now a quick "primer" here:

This was my first time using your service - recommended buy an associate who successfully unlocked the Huawei I'm using now. I wasn't clear on the "Buy Credits" detail at first and subsequently did so. The second attempt seemed to run as expected - detection O.K. etc.

I didn't mess with the COMs selected nor the flash function.

Any I ideas on how to revert back to the original configuration or what the H**L happened?

    Best, Regards.

P.S.: I find your web sight lacking any clear new user friendly descriptive "walk-through".

    Maybe it's just me?

      Here's What worked....

      Vincentas/ Gintas,

      1. > Inserted SIM card NOT from the original carrier.

For my T-Mobile (USA) router a Rogers (Canada) SIM was installed.

      2. > USB cable connected. Windows XP searches for drivers - not found.

      3. > Windows Device Manager reveals:

Modems: Proprietary USB Modem - ZTE

Ports (COM & LPT): T-Mobile AT (COM 10)

      T-Mobile Diagnostics Port (COM 11)

To make a long story short – I matched/ aligned the DC-Unlock COM ports to those assigned for the Proprietary USB modem & Diagnostic Port.

Not “plug & play” but it worked. For a while I thought I was going to be left with a very expensive brick. Not so much in terms of $$$ but time.

      Check my fully detailed posting.
