  • Modem not supported message for MF61

    Hello,

This is my first unlock attempt. I have T-Mobile MF61 modem, which is supported in your forum. I have installed the drivers on my computer. I have set up everything in the Hotspot admin. I have disabled wireless on the device. I do NOT show a CD rom in the device manager. I have a Telcel SIM in the device. Device says "SIM locked".

When I go to detect the modem, I get the message "sorry, this modem not supported". I have tried to manually detect the same modem and I get "sorry, this modem not supported".

    Please help me!

You may receive this error because you did not detect modem.

If you can not detect modem, check this:
Make sure all drivers are installed.
Make sure modems connection software is installed, but not
    running. (if there is one)
Use Autodetect on dc-unlocker “select model” line.
Make sure modem is not connected to internet.

      All drivers installed.
Connection software installed. It opens and works. I close it before running dc-unlocker.
I have tried auto-select as well as manually selecting modem.
I have turned off wireless on the device. It cannot connect to internet because it has sim locked chip on the device? So I do not understand this requirement.
In device manager, it shows one Ethernet device and 3 COM ports for this modem.

      Thank you for your help.

Maybe there are more modems/phones connected to pc when you try to detect this one?
Also, when you try manually detect device, do you enter port numbers that are shown in device manager? Could you mention if mf61 appears under modems line in device manager or just add a screenshot here of how it appears there.

I do not have any other phones connected. I also tried a different computer with different OS with the same results.

When I tried to manually detect the device, I entered port numbers that are in the device manager. It actually shows 3 ports.

MF61 does not appear in the "Network Adapters" portion of the device manager. The device that shows is "T-Mobile Wireless Ethernet Adapter".
I do not have any hardware in the "Modems" category.

Could you write here specifically then how your device appears under ports line? Also it is worthy to try to run our software as administrator, by clicking right mouse button on DC-Unlocker -> Run as... and select "run as administrator” and only then try to detect device.

Hi, I have also the problem that the MF61 is not recognized. But if I look for a ZTE Phone I will receive IMEI number and other information. Is it recommended to try to unlock if the headline says unknown phone ?

I have already tried to run as administrator.

                Under ports:
                T-Mobile AT Port (COM 4)
                T-Mobile Diagnostics Port (COM 6)
T-Mobile NDIS AT Port (COM 5)

No, it should be detected as ZTE Modem. Please check in device manager how it appears there and let us know.

I am using the latest version of DC unlocker... 1.00.1034. I even tried older versions.

                      Device is connected via USB.

Like the other user in this thread, DC Unlocker will detect is as unknown ZTE phone, but it will not detect as modem.

Do you try to detect it manually while In Application port field you enter COM4 or 6 and in Diagnostics port field COM5 regarding your previously posted information of device manager view. Also have you tried to detect it while being offline?

I just tried all of those combinations. I either get "modem not found" or else DC Unlocker stops responding.

If I connect the MF61, it overrides my wireless connection and lose internet. I have to be hard wired to Ethernet to maintain internet connectivity and have access to the MF61. To do your offline test, I simply unplugged my Ethernet cable for my network card and left the MF61 plugged in. It made no difference.

Problem it seems is that your device does not appear under modems line in device manager for detection to work, if mf61 appears somewhere else in device manager you should right click on it and choose disable option from the menu.

To work with wireless while your mf61 is connected you should check adapter binding settings like here https://www.dc-unlocker.com/b683-det...dapter-binding make sure your device connection is on the bottom of the list, then reconnect mf61 to pc or restart pc for settings to apply.

Hello, anyone has solution for this problem ???

                              To re-iterate - under Windows 7 64-bit - dc-unlocker run in administrator mode

                              - it's ZTE MF61 device (T-mobile US)

                              - should be possible to unlock but the DC-Unlocker doesn't detect it as ZTE Modem.

                              - tried on many DC-Unlocker versions: 1045, 1034, 0889, 0664

                              - If you do auto-detection as ZTE Phone you will get:

correctly read IMEI / Fimrware Version (BD_MF61V1.0.1B04) / Chipset (Qualcomm MSM8200A) / UserLock Code (0000)

                              - if you do auto-detection as ZTE Modem - it won't detect the ZTE modem and will report that it's not supported.

                              - The problem might be - that in Device Manager - there is no ZTE Modem Device detected ... I tried some older drivers to get anything like "ZTE Proprietary Modem" installed in device manager -> nothing helped. Tried adding manually but couldn't make it working. If I install the drivers from the CD-ROM (after I attach the MF61 via USB) - it detects following devices in Device Manager:

                              3 COM ports - T-Mobile AT, T-Mobile NDIS AT and T-Mobile Diagnostic
1 Network Device - 1 WiFi T-Mobile Ethernet Adapter (even tried to disable this device)
                              1 CD Rom Device - T-Mobile CD-Rom (with drivers)
1 Storage Device - it's the SD card inside the ZTE M61

Tried to supply various COM port combinations manually to the DC-unlcoker (specifying MF61 modem as device type -> didn't help - cannot communicate with modem.

BTW: If I click on "Enable Diagnostic Port" in Unlocking Section of DC-Unlocker I am getting an error -> Cannot write to port ...

What should I do with those credits I bought if I can't use them on my MF61 device which suppose to work ???

I even tried to follow some advices from this thread - https://www.dc-unlocker.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=14936 > but it didn't helped much.
