I tried it on two different devices which also run on different Windows versions (7 and XP). The result was identical.

I did notice something though. I kept the Device Manager window up and observed it as I attached the device. While the computer was detecting it, I did notice an "other devices" entity appear only very very briefly.. for like less than a second. and then it disappears which is when the other "hardware" appear: the Disk drive MMC storage device, the portable device drive, the CD ROM drive, and the usb mass storage drive.....

Here it even shows how the computer is dealing with the device and what sort of hardware is being detected:

Those are exactly what I find within the device manager and nothing else...

Then reconnect mf90 to pc, go to computer area and eject drive/cdrom of your device that should appear there again after uninstalling software.

Then go to device manager and see if anything popped up related your device.

I tried all that.. tried everything I could possibly think of.. and nothing. No change.. the only ZTE I see in the device manager, as I mentioned before, is listed under Disk drives as "ZTE MMC Storage USB Device". and a "USB Mass Storage Device" pops under USB Controllers whenever the device is attached.

I have those files you linked me to downloaded... but I can see no use for them as I cannot let the laptop detect the modem properly and list it at least under Other Devices so I can update the drivers manually...

Feel like I'm in a loop..

I connected the device to my laptop.. and it would not be detected as a modem. The computer only detects it as a usb storage device.

There is nothing at all under "Other Devices" in Device Manager as I keep seeing in several other posts and as it should be. Nothing at all under Ports (COM).

If I try to run the autoplay file on the virtual CD ROM that is supposed to install all necessary files and drivers, nothing changes. Yes the network center shows a connected Speed 4G device, connected through LAN and I can use it to access the internet. But nothing at all changes regarding device detection.

What should I do? What am I supposed to do so I can successfully allow the laptop to properly detect the device??

Original firmware of the device is usually available from the operator's web site that device was locked to.

This problem should be possible to solve without flashing device. Its same situation by Hyperterminal software as well?
